THE LATE EDWARD MORGAN: There was much sadness and genuine regret in the Coolarty/Edgeworthstown area last week when the news became known that Edward Morgan late of Loughill, Coolarty had passed to his eternal reward at St. James hospital Dublin following a short illness. Eddie was son of the late Patrick and Mrs Morgan of Loughill and when he finished school at the young age of fourteen he worked in McElvaney’s of Coolarty where he proved to be a very popular young man as he was very helpful and obliging to all the customers. Indeed he was a very trustworthy worker and his employers, the late Jack and Mrs. McElvaney always spoke very highly of his great honesty and decency even years after he left. During these years Killeen Dramatic Society was founded and Eddie became involved and many will have fond memories of him and his neighbour, the recently deceased Catherina Kelly (Carrigy) acting out their part on the stage in Killeen Hall. Later he left for England where he worked for many years and he was a great help and support to any neighbour or friend who made the same journey to find employment. In later years Eddie returned with his Mayo born wife Rita and their three children and they lived and worked in Mullingar until Rita’s untimely death about ten years ago. Eddie’s funeral Mass was celebrated in Mullingar on Wednesday last and he was laid to rest in his native parish of Clonbroney afterwards. We offer our sincere sympathy to his daughters Karen and Lorraine his son Kevin, sister Kathleen, brothers Pat and Hubert, sons in law and extended family at this very sad time.May he rest in peace.
