Monastery Grounds: The Monastery Grounds are now looking their best with grass cutting in progress and the new spotlights shining through the night, well done to everyone who helped out on this project. If you want to spend a peaceful 1/2 hour why not go for a stroll to the Monastery grounds!

Family Field Day & Tractor Pulling: Meeting on Thursday 25 April in the Sports Centre at 9pm. Anyone willing to help with the Field Day please attend.

Country Markets: Granard Country Markets are delighted to announce that they now have Slimming World Meals available as well as their usual Bread, Cakes, Jams, Crafts and Firewood. The Market is open every Friday morning from 8-30 am to 11.00 am in the Market house.

Bunlahy N.S. Parents Association: Bunlahy N.S. Parents Association is holding a table quiz in Creegan’s Bar and Lounge this Friday night at 8.30 pm. Raffle and refreshments will be served on the night. Your support will be very much appreciated.

Drama: Mullahoran GFC is holding the hugely popular play “Victors Dung” this Sunday 28 April in the Parochial Hall at 8.30pm, starring Seamus O’Rourke, Charles McGuinness & Tommy Sharkey. Tickets are on sale at €10 and are available from the local shops and committee members.

Mock Wedding: The Granard Branch of St. Christopher’s Services would like to thank all those who generously supported the recent mock wedding.  Thanks to everyone who bought tickets, sponsored raffle prizes, wedding cards and gave donations.  Sincere thanks to the Mock Wedding cast, who provided great entertainment and many laughs. A special thank you to the directors, screenwriters and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this such a memorable evening. We are grateful to Abbeylara GFC and the Longford Arms Hotel for their function room.

Collection: The Cystic Fibrosis association of Ireland will hold a church gate collection at all Masses at St.Mary’s in Granard next weekend April 27th and 28th. All donations greatly appreciated.

St. Therese National Day of Prayer: Takes place on Monday 6 May in Knock Shrine, Anointing of the sick, Ceremony of the Blessing of the Roses, Concelebrated Mass at 3pm. Veneration and Blessing with Relics of St. Therese and her parents Blessed Louis and Zelie Martin.

County Longford Rural Transport Programme: On Friday the 19 April last, the Rural Transport Programme celebrated 10 Years in business in Granard Area Action Group (GAAG) office, to acknowledge all concerned with the success of the Rural Transport Programme since the Initiative in 2003. This was a great achievement for all concerned and many locals came along to have a little chat and to enjoy a cup of tea and good company! The LCRL operates 23 Services on the Rural Transport Programme throughout the County, with the emphasis on the “Door to Door” collection, Monday to Saturday. Reminder: The 3rd Annual Cycle and Climb to Croagh Patrick for the Parish of Granard Lourdes Invalid Fund, will take place on Saturday 1st June 2013. 2012 was a very successful and enjoyable climb. We hope this year will be equally successful, and there is plenty of time for any aspiring cyclist to fit in the training. A special event to launch this year’s cycle will take place on Saturday 4 May starting at 9 o’clock on Saturday morning with a Static Cycle “1500km from Granard to Lourdes” followed by a Fancy Dress Party in John V Donohoe’s on Saturday night. Study Skills & Meal Planning for College Workshop: Students this worthwhile free short course will give you help to beat exam stress, gain those last minute study/memory tools, and provide tips on eating well despite the stress and also preparing for college.
