League: St. Columba’s campaign in the Longford Leader Division 1 Football League for this year got underway on Sunday 14th March. For the opening round the Maroon and White squad travelled to Monaduff to take on the home side Fr. Manning Gaels. After a somewhat sluggish first half St. Columba’s showed their capabilities in the second half to emerge victorious on a scoreline of 3-8 to 1-7. On Saturday evening last near neighbours and old rivals Abbeylara were visitors to ‘The Laurels’ . Despite the fact that we were missing some key players through injury another victory was secured in an exciting and entertaining encounter. May we take this opportunity to wish the management and team good luck for the coming year.
