SYMPATHY: Sincere sympathy is extended to Bridie Dolan and family Killeen on the death of her brother Martin McDonagh which occurred following an illness recently. The late Martin was laid to rest in Galway on Sunday last.We also extend our sympathy to the wife and daughters and family of the late Detective Garda John Murren Carra who was laid to rest in Edgeworthstown following Mass in St. Mary’s in Granard on Tuesday last. May they rest in peace.

THANKS: The organisers of the church gate collection for Cystic Fibrosis which was held in Granard last weekend wish to sincerely thank all who contributed so generously and made it a great success.A total of 595 euro and 66 cent has been forwarded to Cystic Fibrosis. STATIC CYCLE: On this Saturday morning May 4th a very special event will be held in Granard when a group of cyclists will take part in a Static Cycle starting at 9-00am. The cycle is from Granard to lourdes which is a total of 1500 km and this is to launch the 3rd annual cycle to Croagh Patrick which will be held on June 1st next in aid of the Granard Lourdes invalid fund. Also on Saturday night May 4th a Fancy Dress Party will be held in John V’S so a great day’s entertainment is promised. Having lived in Granard for the past twenty four years Ann and her late husband Tommy had made many friends who will miss her for a long time to come. May she rest in peace.

GRANARD MOTTE COMMUNITY ENTERPRISE – Local Tourism Project: Our next public meeting takes place on Tuesday next, May 7th. at 8pm in the community centre Barrack St. This is a very important meeting as Mr Bill Thorne of Exodea Consultants will present a draft copy of our Feasibility Study to the meeting. The study is due for completion by the end of May so now is the time to give your opinion. Everyone is invited to come along and hear what is being proposed and give their comments. Our monthly draw for April will also be held at the meeting.
