BOWLS: Only one of the Streete teams was in action this week. Streete B travelled to Tyrrellspass where they had a hard fought win over the C home team. Team 1 Phyllis Martin, Seamus Moran and Pat Kelly (skip). Team 2 Mick McLoughlin, Damien Nally and Sean Flood (skip). On Sunday Feb. 10th. Streeet club hosted the Westmeath Pairs competition. Once again this competition was an outstanding success with the standard of bowling at an all time high. Streete club had eight pairs competing. The most successful pair on the day was Seamus Moran and Peter Hallinan who reached the semi-final coming within a single shot of making the final. The final show-down was between Mick Lynch and Seamus Daly of Tyrrellspass and Mullingar pair Glen and Ken Rysdale. After a nail-biting contest the Tyrrellspass men were victorious. The Streete club would like to thank everyone who participated in the competition. A special word of thanks must go to Marian Denning who kept everyone fed and refreshed. We welcome new members to the club.

BOHERQUILL RAMBLERS: - The Ramblers joined the John Murray Radio Show Walking Club walk in Glenfarne County Leitrim last Sunday. Together with more than 1,000 other walkers they met at The Ballroom of Romance in Glenfarne and followed a forest track to a loop walk beside Lough Macnean Upper. Across the Lough the hills and forests of County Fermanagh were crystal clear in the beautiful spring weather. The walkers gathered beside the Lough for some musical entertainment provided by Eleanor Shanley and Charlie McGettigan as well as several amusing recitations. The route led back to the Ballroom in Glenfarne where refreshments were laid out for all comers. Thank you to Paddy O’Brien of Rover coaches in Mullingar for providing the bus as always when requested and also to Ramblers Chairman Brian Nerney who drove the bus. The Ramblers AGM will be held in Streete Parish Park next Sunday, February 24th. There will be a short walk starting at the Parish Park at 1.45pm and the AGM will start in the Parish Park at about 3.30pm. Bookings are now being taken for the Ramblers St. Patrick’s Day trip to Strangford. Those who have not already done so are asked to contact Brian Nerney on 086 2596656 so that accommodation can be arranged. Members are reminded that subscriptions are now due for 2013 at the rate of €20 each or €30 for a family.
