Good Start: The football season commenced last Sunday with a home game when neighbours Lacken were visitors to our Lady of Lourdes park on a fine afternoon. This local derby attracted a very large crowd anticipating a tight battle but the locals had a dream start assisted by a very strong wind in the first half and led by 0-9 to 0-1 at the interval. Scores were hard to come by in the second half and the Dreadnoughts ran out easy winners by 0-11 to 0-5.
Kilcogy Development Committee: As part of The Gathering in conjunction with the Sean Maguire Memorial unveiling Kilcogy Village is having a festival weekend from Friday April 19th to Sunday 21st 2013. Do you have a traditional skill/craft i.e lace making, old methods of cooking, baking etc? If you would like to display your wares on Sunday 21st please contact Denise 043 6681125. It is intended to keep our displays as traditional as possible, strictly no hawkers.

Co Cavan VEC: Adult Education Services are offering the following courses: Level 3 Employability Skills (Full Award)- suitable for those of you left school early without any certification; Modules include: Planning your Career, Communications, Mathematics, Computers: Classes would be two/three sessions per week. FETAC Level 4 Information and Communication Technology Skills (Full Award) – suitable for who may not have a Leaving Certificate or completed Leaving Certificate some years ago and need to up-skill. Modules include: Communications, Mathematics, Information Technology Skills, Computer Applications, Work Experience Classes would be three/four sessions per week. Fine Weather: After weeks of continuous rain the clouds finally disappeared and some fine weather over the weekend was appreciated by all. The longer evenings brought a real touch of spring and farmers are heartened as fodder supplies are running low.
Lenten Masses: Weekly Mass times – Monday 9.30am Mullahoran, Tuesday 9.30am Loughduff, Thursday 7 pm Loughduff, Friday 7pm Mullahoran, Saturday 7 pm Loughduff, Sunday 11 am Mullahoran. Stations of the Cross each Tuesday evening at 8pm. All are invited to do the Stations during Lent which is an ago-old custom.
Apostolic Society: The annual Traditional Irish concert will be held in the Parochial hall on Sunday evening 3rd March next from 6 – 10 pm. A host of top class artists from all over the country will perform, proceeds to the foreign missions. Tickets will be on sale locally or pay at door. As usual a great night’s entertainment is assured.
Trocaire: Boxes are available in both Churches for Lenten collection. This year Trocaire celebrates 40 years working for a just world the focus this year is on helping communities in the Third World work their way out of poverty and with all our support families may be able to start to rebuild their lives.
