THE ELDERLY: With the approach of the Christmas season, now more than ever, we should think of our elderly neighbours, and those living alone or in isolated areas, who might benefit from the visits of friends and neighbours, but are reluctant or too independent to ask for assistance. The offer of transport into the nearest town to shop or collect medication could literally be a lifesaver, or to organise house repairs, winter fuel etc. By visiting our elderly neighbours we can share our time with them, and save them from the attentions of those whose motives are less than honourable.
