Community groups and organisations have received around €2.4m in financial aid from a leading Co Longford based organisation under a major EU and government capital programme, new figures show.

Community groups and organisations have received around €2.4m in financial aid from a leading Co Longford based organisation under a major EU and government capital programme, new figures show.

Social inclusion and economic development body, Longford Community Resources Ltd (LCRL) have so far distributed around one third of the allocated €8.7m ring fenced as part of the Rural Development Programme 2007-13.

Chief executive Adrian Greene said he was “very confident” the remaining monies would be handed out to various organisations by the time the programme concludes in two years time.
