GOLDEN ANNIVERSARY: Congratulations are extended to Attie and Rosaleen Hamilton, Tycusker, Arva who celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary on Sunday evening last with a party attended by family and friends in the Breffni Arms Hotel & Leisure Complex. Unknown to the happy couple their Best Man and Bridesmaid were also in attendance - Attie’s brother Willie who lives in Manchester and Rosaleen’s niece Dolores Marshall nee Davis who lives in Larne- added to the sense of occasion. It was a great night of Music and Food with many party pieces and Rosaleen herself took to the microphone and sang a number of songs. On behalf of the entire community we wish this popular couple continued happiness in the years ahead.

WILLIAM DOLAN RIP: There was widespread regret in the area with news of the death of Mr William (Willie) Dolan, Corhannagh, Arva which occurred suddenly at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda on Wednesday 27th July. While he had been in indifferent health for some months his passing came very unexpectedly. Willie was one of the great characters in the area and would entertain his fellow workers on building sites with his good humour and funny stories – all of which were true !! While he enjoyed the craic he was always attentive to his religious duties and he would dress impeccably for weekly Mass. He always took great pride in his appearance and along with his wife Margaret he would attend dances practically every Sunday night which he always enjoyed. Along with his building work Willie also maintained the family farm and had a great love of the land. He also had a huge interest in Vintage Tractors and Machinery. His remains reposed at the residence of his son Liam from where they were removed to the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva on Thursday evening. Rev Dan Sheridan P.P. Killeshandra received his remains into the church and also officiated at his Requiem mass on Friday morning with burial following in Coronea Cemetery. There was a large attendance at both removal and funeral showing the esteem in which Willie and his family are held over a wide area. He is survived by his wife Margaret, sons Liam, Corhannagh, Arva, Pat , Coronaugh, Carrigallen, Michael, Gullado, Carrigallen, daughter Mrs Carmel Smith, Blenacup, Crossdoney, sister Mary Kate Fitzpatrick, Cloone, grandchildren, nephews, nieces relatives and many friends to all of whom we extend sincere sympathy.
