CYCLE RACING: On Thursday 11th August a cycle race will take place in the Abbeyshrule area between 7:00pm and 8:30pm. The race will consist of 3 laps of a 7 mile circuit taking in Abbeyshrule and Taghshinny. The cyclists will be travelling at speed so motorists are asked to be very careful and take heed of instructions given by marshalls. (If necessary slow down and pull into the side of the road.) Racing begins in Abbeyshrule village at 7:00pm and all are welcome, so come along and enjoy the spectacle

CARRICKEDMOND COMMUNITY GAMES: It is National Finals in Athlone over the next 2 weekends in August. On Nationals Final 2 weekend of 13th-14th August we have Jimmy Byrne representing Longford in the U16 Freestyle 50M swimming competition. On Nationals Final 3 weekend of 20th-21st, we have 6 children taking part in track events. They are John McCormack U8 - 80M, Ciara Mulligan U10 - 100M, Shauna McCormack U16 - 100M and U10 Mixed Relay Team Mark McCormack, Grace Esler, Sean McCormack & Ciara Mulligan. Well done to all these children who have reached the National Finals. It is a great opportunity and experiences for all involved. We all send them best wishes for the weekends as they all have been practising over the last few weeks. All in Carrickedmond are very proud of ye all.
