At a recent meeting of Castlepollard Tidy Towns Committee, much discussion and great praise was given to all who are making special efforts in preparing for this years competition. Special thanks are extended to the very active FAS and Westmeath County Council outdoor staff who have been making special efforts to present Castlepollard in a positive light which will in turn generate more business as people stop and shop. The new street lighting around The Square, in addition to the new seating with accompanying litterbins, has been complimented by many. The control, and consequent absence of, litter is very encouraging, as this has been an issue in the past. Thanks must go to all in the local community for their efforts with many residences and business premises being freshly painted which should be reflected in this years markings as judging will take place in the coming weeks. Hopefully any improvements that can be made to enhance the appearance of the town and improve the living and working environments will be done, and very well done to all concerned, and keep up the good work.
