Arva travelled to Ballyhaise on Friday evening last for a game in the Reserve League and after a hard fought encounter the home team took the spoils on a scoreline of 1-10 to 1-7. U-14 Final: St Josephs Under 14 team played Ballymachugh in the final of the U-14 competition on Saturday last 28th May on the 3G Pitch in Kingspan Breffni Park. After an excellent performance from our young players they were unfortunately defeated on a score line of 4-10 to 4-8. A lot of credit must go the players and mentors for getting to the final and while the result did not go our way this time, it will hopefully stand to them in the future.
The Juvenile Club and the Ladies Club are holding a Fundraising Fun Race Nite in The Brewery Bar on Sunday 5th June at 9.30pm. The Wooden Horses will be chomping at the bit to raise money for both Clubs. A great nights entertainment and craic is guaranteed.
The Arva Club are starting their own Lotto and are looking for students to sell envelopes. Anyone interested should give their names to Club Secretary Siobhán O’ Hara. The club are hoping that this fundraising will go a long way to financing the needs of the club and will cover all age groups including the Ladies club. There is great work ongoing within the club and children from U-8upwards are coached in the skills of the game. It is to be hoped that the community will support all this good work and join the GAA Lotto. The first draw will be held on Monday 6th June.
On Sunday 22nd May His Lordship Most Reverend Bishop Leo O’ Reilly conferred the Sacrament of Confirmation on the children of the Parish of Killeshandra in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva. The following are those from St Mary’s national School, Arva who were conferred - Shauna Arbuckle, Deirdre Brady, John Briody, Charlie Conneely, Mikie Cully, Georgia Rae Farnham, Dearbhla Gormely, Shane Hamilton, Sally Hurson, Thomas Lee, Karen Lynch, Finbar McAvinue, Darren McGee, Niall McGee, Cian O’Hara, Katiemai Sheridan, Anna Walch, Victoria Whelan, Megan Williams. We congratulate all involved – Priest, Teachers, Parents and especially the children.

Arva Area Development Association monthly meeting takes place on Monday 13th June at 9pm in St. Patricks Hall. This is the last meeting of the summer and meetings will resume again in September.
Ice Cream party
St. Mary’s NS Arva is pleased to host their annual Ice Cream Party on Friday 3rd June 2011 at 1pm. All proceeds will go to Down Syndrome Ireland. You are invited to please support this very worthy cause all donations will be greatly appreciated.
Arva Active Age are making a 4 day trip to Killarney – 3 B&B / 4 Dinners – from Monday 13th June to Thursday 16th June staying in the Gleneagle Hotel and including daily tours and nightly entertainment. The bus will leave St Patrick’s Hall, Arva at 9.30 am sharp on Monday 13th and arrive home at approximately 8.00 pm on Thursday 16th. Sale of work
The Sale of Work was a huge success and the Club Members and Committee wish to thank everyone who helped in any way. Those who set up the Hall on Wednesday and cleared it on Saturday evening, sold tickets or gave financial donations and those who came along and purchased items on both days.
