The winners in each race from Under 8 up will go forward to the County Finals in Ballymahon on Sunday 26th June. The Field Events competition will be held on Thursday Evening next in Maguire starting at 7 – Ball Throw U12 Boys/Girls; Shot Putt – u14 Boys/Girls, Long Kick, Long Puck, Discus and Javelin.


The monthly whist drive takes place on Tuesday 7th June in Currycahill CC at the usual time.


Abbeylara Field Day takes place on Sunday June 12th. Attraction tractor pulling vintage cars midget car racing funfair etc. Children free. Proceeds in aid of Abbeylara parish centre.


The annual Connemara Pony Show takes place on Sunday 12th of June with all the usual extra attractions dog show and the parade through the village at approx 2pm.


Numbers 7,10,19,22. No jackpot winner. 1 match 3 Michelle Carrigy Fox 100 euro. Promoters prize Tony Mahon. Jackpot 15000 euro. Draw in Farrells for month of June. Please support. 1 line 2 euro or 3 for 5 euro.


Cemetery Sunday takes place in booth graveyards on Sunday 26th June. We ask all plot holders to please bring home any weeds flowers etc and not dump in the graveyard or surrounding hedges. Members of the Rural Social Scheme start work in the graveyard this week. Any queries re this work please contact Michael Carrigy 3323101.


Any household in the area who can’t receive a service from any provider can apply for the recently announced Rural broadband scheme. Forms are available from myself. Public meeting in Granard Community Centre this Thursday night at 8pm.


Judging for this years tidy towns awards takes place in June & July. We ask all householders to look after the areas outside their houses painting weeding plant flowers strimming etc. Bins in the village are for litter and not for household rubbish.
