Holy communion

Second class pupils from St Theresa’s NS Killoe received their first holy communion in St Mary’s Church Ennybegs on Saturday 22 May 2011. We thank Fr Sean Casey PP for his friendly relaxed sharing of this special sacrament, teacher Mrs Deirdre Dalton, music Miss Susan Donlon, choir 4th and 6th class St Theresa’s family Church and community committees. Well you all looked beautiful and smart but the good Lord cried a lot that day and blew cold wind but it wasn’t tears of sadness but big sobs of joy for you young boys/girls to let you know he will always be happy for you and your families. The Irish Cancer Society of Ireland will hold their annual church gate collection at St Mary’s Church Ennybegs on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 June 2011. Your support is greatly appreciated.


The Co Longford branch of the Alzheimers Society wish to express a sincere thank you to everyone for the sum of 731.51 euro raised at their recent tea time party in Ennybegs Community Centre Killoe. Also much gratitude to all who helped with teas coffees raffle. In appreciation.


Congratulations to Emma Lynch daughter of Pat and Kathleen Currgranny Ballinalee who celebrated that big key to the door birthday at the weekend joined by families and friends. We wish Emma great success in her future teaching career and good luck in her exams as we wish everyone who is currently taking third level exams. Happy 21st birthday Emma hope you had a pleasant time.

Good wishes are extended from the parish to Gerry Quinn, Templeogue Dublin (formerly Treanlawn Killoe) for a speedy recovery and all parishioners who are in hospital or unwell at home. We trust all will have a speedy recovery to good health.


The Ennybegs baby and Toddler group have arranged a host of activities for their usual Friday meet up covering the month of June 2011. Friday 3 June meet at Loretta and Arthur Stewarts home Bundoon Killoe for a real HB ice cream party starting at 10.30am.

Usual 3 euro fee donated to charity. Friday 10 June / Friday 17 June 2011 usual meet in Ennybegs Community Centre Killoe from 9.30am – 11.30am, Friday 24 June – a big song song with the melodious teacher of music and singer Pairic Fitzpatrick which promises to be a rousing event on the last morning of the baby/toddler season. Normal 3 euro applies 9.30 – 11.30. Everyone is welcome to this group. New season will resume in September 2011 at usual Friday 9.30am- 11.30am.

Pick up clean up for Cullyfad on this Thursday eve starting 7 o’clock 2/6/11. Bags and rubbish pickers supplied. If you can give up one hour we would be delighted . So please turn out in numbers.

The Tidy Towns judging starts next week so give us a hand to tidy the area. The barbecue takes place on Sunday June 26th earlier than other years. We will be around selling tickets soon , ten euro each. Cemetery Sunday also on June 26th so a good turn out of volunteers for work in the graveyard each Monday evening.


Sincere sympathy is extended to Joe Hughes and families Garvagh Ballinalee , Brendan Hughes and families Ohill Killoe, Hughes families Newtownforbes on the sad bereavement of Joe’s wife Mary who was laid to rest last week.

The parish express condolence to her husband Joe,daughter Kathleen (Sleighholme), sons ,grandchildren, brothers/sisters in law, extended families friends .Requiem mass was celebrated in the Holy Trinity church Ballinalee followed by burial in St Emers Cemetery Ballinalee. May she rest in peace.
