Students bursary

A Gowna students bursary to assist Gowna students undertaking a 3rd level course in 2015 is being provided by Gowna Community Development Association. There are six bursaries available at 500 euro each. Criteria: resident in Gowna hinterland and a college communication confirming acceptance of the student on a 3rd level course. Only one winner permitted from a family with multiple applicants. Applications by email sought with name address, mobile number and 3rd level college course to jerry.fitzpatrick@hotmail.com. A draw on Friday 18th September will determine the six successful applicants. Any further information required contact Jerry on 087 7953131.

Book of poems – launch

At the Edge, the first poetry collection of Kate Ennals from Gowna will be launched on Friday, 4th September at 6.30pm in Cavan Town Hall by Noel Monaghan. Everybody welcome. Book on sale at Loch Gowna Post office. 12 euro.

Farewell social

A farewell social & presentation was held on Friday night last to mark the departure of Fr PJ Fitzpatrick after almost 14 years of loyal and dedicated ministry in the parish of Gowna and Mullinlaghta. A large turnout was present to mark his farewell. We wish to thank him for his courtesy and service to both parishes. We also take this opportunity to wish him God’s blessing and prosperity in his new parish of Mount Temple in Co Westmeath.

Congratulations

We extend congratulations to Paul Brady, Drumcor, Loughduff on winning his fifth time world handball championship. Well done Paul, great achievement.

Sympathy

Sympathy is extended to Andy, Donie Hartin and Maggie McCabe on the recent death of their sister, Nancy Brady, Kilsarn, Loughduff. May she rest in peace.

Sympathy

We extend our deepest sympathy to Mrs Lillian Brady, Gurteen, Arva on the death of her husband, Vincent which occurred on 3rd August at Cavan General Hospital. Also sympathy to Vincent’s sons Thomas, Ciaran and Bernard, daughter Deirdre, brothers, sisters and extended family members. Following funeral mass in Sacred heart Church Arva he was laid to rest in Coronea cemetery. May he rest in peace.
