Advice from EPA
Advice from EPA for Gardeners, Householders and Farmers: Products commonly used around the home and farm such as weed killers, insecticides, fungicides, pesticides and herbicides should always be stored and used very carefully. Even the smallest amount of these getting poured down a drain or being allowed into a water course can have a serious effect on drinking water and animals which use that water course to drink from. Further information can be found on longfordcoco.ie or by picking up a leaflet from the council offices. Longford County Council will be holding a Household Hazardous Waste collection and a Farmyard Hazardous Waste collection later on in the year and we advise people to bring your unused, unwanted or out of date household and farmyard chemicals to these collections for safe disposal. For further information you can contact Gary Brady, Environmental Awareness Officer Longford County Council on 043-3343451.
