FETAC Level 5 Courses

Ardscoil Phádraig are currently finalising their enrolment process for FETAC Level 5 courses in Animal Care and Nursing Studies. These FETAC Level 5 courses are suitable for both school leavers and mature students who wish to return to education and gain new skills or employment. St. Christopher’s Services

St. Christopher’s Services are looking for volunteers to join their Leisure Buddies Project. Leisure Buddies is a befriending Project that aims to support people with a disability who attend St. Christopher’s to access more Leisure activities and to form friendships with their peers in their local communities. Vintage Day

All who tractors, especially vintage ones are reminded that our Philip Moran Memorial Tractor Run takes place on Saturday, 11 July starting from the park at 4.00pm and ending back at the park for a B.B.Q. All drivers will get free admission to the B.B.Q. and the public are welcome to come along and purchase admission tickets at €5. This year we will donate to the Irish Heart Foundation, St. Mary’s Church Building Fund and the Church of Ireland, Streete upkeep fund. Any donations of Spot Prizes etc. will be greatly appreciated and can be left in the shop in Streete. Field Day

Many thanks to all the people who supported our Annual Family Field Day in such large numbers last Sunday, A special word of thanks to each and every person who helped in any way to make the Family Field Day most enjoyable and so successful. Well done to all the people involved. It was a very good community day enjoyed by all present. We thank the Lord God for the good weather and day.

Corpus Christi Procession

Thanks very much too all the people who took part in the Corpus Christi Procession on Sunday, 14 June in Abbeylara. Also sincere thanks to all the people who helped out with the Corpus Christi Procession. We thank God for the beautiful sunshine and weather that we enjoyed during the Procession.

GAA Club Meeting

Abbeylara GAA Club is holding a meeting on Wednesday 24 June at 8.30pm in the Handball Sports Complex, to organize arrangements for “Big Breakfast” fixed for Sunday, 26 July. Please come along to the meeting and bring one or two people with you. All help available is greatly appreciated.

Active Retirement

Over 50, time to spare an hour on a Thursday morning from 11.00am in the Sports Centre.  Come along and join in the fun, we do all sorts of exercises.  You can do these movements by sitting on chairs or moving about and letting your hair down, lots of fun and craic.  Why not give it a try; we will make you feel welcome.


Takes place every Wednesday night at 8.45pm in the Community Centre Granard. Proceeds go towards St. Mary’s Granard and Abbeylara GAA Clubs. Jackpot now stands at €20,000. Seats are limited with this big Jackpot so come along early and enjoy the fun. IT COULD BE YOU!

Host Families

A group of Spanish Studies are hoping to attend a summer camp in Cnoc Mhuire, Granard from 4 July to 24 July. This is the first year for the camp in the Granard area and is an extension of the successful Moyne Community summer camp which has been running since 2011.
