Congratulations to Seamus O’Rourke, Aughagreagh in the parish of Colmcille who was ordained to the priesthood in St. Mel’s Cathedral on Sunday last. On what was no doubt a very proud occasion for the O’Rourke family, the ceremony was performed by Most Reverend Francis Duffy, Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise with Bishop Emeritus Colm O’ Reilly. Fr. Seamus is brother of Sean O’Rourke, Cloonagh and Breda Farrelly, Lislea. Following the joyous ceremony all present made the short journey to St. Mel’s College where refreshments were laid on. On Monday evening Fr. Seamus celebrated his first Mass in his native parish at St. Colmcille’s Church after which all were individually blessed by the newly ordained. Similar to Sunday evening the congregation were invited to the local community centre for refreshments. On behalf of his family, people of Colmcille and many friends we wish Fr. Seamus well and all of God’s blessings in his ministry.
We remind all in the village that adjudication for this year’s tidy towns competition will take place in the coming weeks. It is important to keep weeds and hedges under control. All are requested to be conscious of litter in the village and on the approach roads to the village. Your support in this area would be very much appreciated.
