There was much regret locally on the occasion of the death of John Gibney, Legwee which occurred peacefully at Cavan General hospital recently. Although deceased had been seriously ill for a short time his death came as a great shock to his beloved wife and family to whom he was devoted. Aged 80, John was a member of the farming community and was an industrious and hard working man and a good neighbour. He had a pleasant personality and was a regular ceili’ier in neighbouring houses where he enjoyed a chat, recalled old times. He also liked socialising and had a great love of Irish music. He was predeceased by his brothers James, Tom and Pat and is survived by his wife Kathleen, son Sean and daughters Kathleen and Aine, sisters Cissie (Elizabeth) Briody and Mary Ann Mooney, grandchildren and a wide family circle to whom we extend our sincere sympathy. Canon Owen Devaney was the celebrant of the funeral Mass in St. Joseph’s Church, Loughduff on Wednesday, 28th January and burial took place to local cemetery. May he rest in peace.
