Lotto: The Arva Football Club Lotto draw was held in the Clubrooms on Monday 26th January 2015. The Jackpot was €7,850. Numbers drawn - 07 / 10 / 19 / 27 – no winner. €50 each – Yvonne Brady, Gurteen. Carol Gaffney, Denn. Lorna Giblin, Brankhill. The Jackpot on Monday night last 2nd February was €7,900. Lotto Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection on Monday evenings and everyone is welcome to attend the draw. The club have an option of paying by direct debit for anyone wishing to join the LOTTO and give the club much needed support. Contact any club officer or check out the club website www.arvagfc.com. Membership: Club membership for 2015 is now due and should be paid to Cyril Sheridan / Arthur Mc Cabe or any officer. Dinner Dance: The Club will hold their Dinner Dance on Saturday 14th February in the Breffni Arms Hotel and tickets are on sale from Cormac O’ Donnell in Arva Post Office or club officers. This should be a fantastic night of celebration with the presentation of the League and Championship medals and a presentation to newly- wed players. For all you old Romantics out there this is a great opportunity to treat your wife / partner for St Valentine’s Day xx lol. Make a note of the date and get your tickets early. U 21: The St Josephs v St Eunans, Letterkenny in the Semi Final the Bank of Ireland Paddy Mc Larnon U 21 Ulster Championship was postponed on Sunday last and at time of writing no new date had been agreed.

Cavan draw

Cavan travelled to the St Brigid’s Club grounds in Kiltoom on Sunday last to play Roscommon in the opening round of the Allianz League and after a tough encounter they shared the spoils with the home side on a score Cavan 0-14 Roscommon 1-11. On this Saturday evening 7th February they travel to Portlaoise to play the home side in Round 2. Lets all get behind the team and travel to the game to cheer on the players.

Church Services

For the Arva Church of Ireland Parish Group – Sunday 8th February – Morning Prayer Service in Carrigallen at 10.00 am and in Arva at 11.30 am. Holy Communion Service in Columbkille at 10.00 am and in Gowna at 11.30 am

First Friday

This Friday, 6th February - Mass in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Arva at 10am and in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Coronea at 7.00 pm. The Sick and Housebound will be visited at the usual times after Mass.

Lourdes Pilgrimage

On this weekend a collection will be taken up after Communion in all churches in the Diocese of Kilmore for the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes to support the Assisted Pilgrim Fund. Each year approximately 60 Pilgrims travel to Lourdes with the Pilgrimage and your financial support could help someone who might not otherwise be able to travel. Your generous support will be much appreciated. This year the Pilgrimage takes place from 27th May to 1st June. All applications for the Sick / Assisted pilgrim section should be made to Rev Kevin Fay, Upper Lavey, Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan Tel 049 433 0018 / 087 857 9968. St Vincent De Paul

The Arva Conference of the Society of St Vincent De Paul wish to thank everyone who contributed to their church gate collection which was taken up on the weekend 13th / 14th December 2014. The Coronea collection amounted to €251-15 while the Arva collection amounted to €1,205-00. The Conference are most grateful to everyone for your generous donations. Bingo

Following its 6 month run in Carrigallen the weekly Bingo returned to St Patrick’s Hall, Arva on Sunday night last 1st February. The committee were delighted to welcoming back all their patrons and look forward to seeing all the familiar faces and hopefully a few new ones as well over the next 6 months. There is over €3,000 in prize money each week – Eyes Down at 8.30 pm.

St Mary’s N.S.

Enrolment for September 2015. Anyone who wishes to enrol a child in St. Mary’s National School, Arva, for September 2015, please contact the school on 049-4335560 for an enrolment form before Friday 6th February 2015. Centenary Year: Our centenary year is upon us and we are looking forward to a great celebration. We have received some great photos and information already but we are eager to collect more so if you can help us out with either photos, memories or work samples, please contact the school on 049-4335560. Grandparents Day: St Mary’s National School, Arva, will celebrate Grandparent’s Day on today Wednesday 28th January 2015 as part of Catholic School Week. All grandparents in the community are invited to a special Prayer Service in the school at 12.00 pm with light refreshments after. All welcome.

Yoga

Free Spirit Yoga group taking place each Thursday evening at 9pm and Saturday morning at 11am in the Memorial Hall, Arva. We welcome everyone from beginners to the advanced.

Line Dancing

The Breffni Kickers Line Dancing Classes continue each Thursday night in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva. Beginners at 8.30 pm followed by the more advanced at 9.30 pm. So get those dancing shoes ready for nights of fun and craic in a friendly atmosphere.

Slimming World

Trotters

Arva Trotters made their presentation to Enable Ireland on Saturday night last in the Breffni Arms Hotel. They would also like to extend an invitation to anybody who would like to join us on our exploits. The Arva Trotters meet at the Breffni Arms Hotel each Sunday at 11.15am and Thursdays at 8pm.

Classes
