Solas Art Gallery
Solas Art Gallery, Ballinamore, is pleased to announce their first two solo exhibitions of the year. “BODY OF PROOF” by Lorna Watkins & “ENCHANTMENT” from Doug Ross, opening on Friday, 6th February at 7.30pm. These two artists produce work in entirely different mediums, yet have threads binding them together. Both these artists have exhibited widely nationally and have their work in many collections. Lorna Watkins lives in North Sligo and is originally from Kildare. Even though her background is textile design she has spent the last few years working in fine Art, using a variety of techniques: drawing, painting, encaustic, photography and print.
Angling AGM The AGM will be held on Monday, 23rd February at 8.30pm in Smyth’s Bar and Restaurant, Main St, Ballinamore.
Pike Anglers Fished for the Drumcoura Sheild on Drumcoura Lake on Saturday, 24th January. 1st Dave Cosby, 5lb 10ozs; 2nd Ger Fogerty 1lb 10ozs. League Leaders: Bob O’Callaghan 13pts, Ger Fogerty 12pts, Alan Gallagher, Joe Murphy, Dave Cosby all with 10pts; Barry Taylor, Shane Gallagher both with 7pts.
Darts The final of Drino Cup Singles was played last Friday night in Quinn’s of Fenagh, twenty one players took part in the competition. After some very close and exciting games, Conor Scollan and Paul Gill reached the final and I’m told the best darts of the night was thrown in the final, Paul Gill winning on a score line of (4) games to (2). Mick Horgan and Brendan Mulvey were beaten semi-finalist. Thanks to everyone who took part in the finals. The next competition starts next Friday night, the matches are the Poor Scholar v Quinn’s, Jackie’s v Drumcoura, McGirl’s v Ossie’sv starting time 10.30pm.

Women’s Group The first meeting of the new year of Ballinamore women’s group takes place on Wednesday, the 4th February at 8pm. Plans for the coming year will be discussed at the meeting. All members are asked to attend.
Athletic Club Following the success of the January 17th Operation Transformation Walk organised by Ballinamore Athletic Club on behalf of Leitrim Sports Partnership,despite adverse weather conditions, it had been proposed to hold another similar Walk. With Leitrim Sports Partnership rescheduling the other three County Walks which had been postponed that day for next weekend the Ballinamore Walk will also be held next Saturday morning. It will follow the same pattern as the previous one with registration at the Sports Hall at 10.30a.m. followed by a short warm up in the Sports Hall and refreshments will be available on completion of the Walk. Provision will be made on this occasion for those who wish to jog or run the course. A lot, of course, will depend on the weather but all interested are invited to take part in what on the previous occasion proved to be an enjoyable as well as a healthy experience.
Collection The Lourdes collection which only takes place every 3 years, will be held on Saturday 7th & Sunday 8th February.

Blessing of hands
Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes on February 11th is now a World day of Prayer for sick and all who care for the Sick. At the 7pm mass in Ballinamore there will be an opportunity for all who care for the sick at home or in hospital to have their hands blessed.
Feast of St Valentine
The feast of St. Valentine falls on a Saturday this year. Before going out for the evening why not come to the 7pm mass where special prayers for couples will be recited and receive a blessing.

Operation Transformation There is a fitness class suitable for everybody in our community. Starting Tuesday the 27th of Jan. Sessions in Ballinamore GAA gym Tuesday from 6.30pm - 7.05pm very intense quick bootcamp session. From 7.05pm - 7.40pm gym session to introduce you to exercises. Both sessions are for males and females. Throughout the sessions there will be health, fitness & motivation talks with an optional fitness assessment and weigh in available. Women’s toning class Wed at 7.30pm & men’s gym workout Wed at 8.30pm. Community walk every Sunday at 9.30am from the GAA pitch to the golf club. (€35 for 5 weeks payable to Sean O Heslins club on the first night & you can attend whatever classes you choose).

Spanish Classes Like to learn Spanish? Something new has come to Ballinamore library!!!! Starting Thursday 29th January and every Thursday from 6.30pm to 7.30pm, join Cristina, a native Spanish speaker and have fun learning a new language. No need to book and admission is free.
Preparations are will advanced for the 2015 Drama Festival in Ballinamore and the opening date is Sunday, March 8 continuing nightly until Sunday, March 15. Looking forward to meeting all drama enthusiasts. The final line up of plays will be available next week.
