Hospice Coffee morning
Coffee morning for local Hospice to be held in D & E McHugh Ltd. from 10am until 1pm on Thursday, 18th September.
No doubt, most of you will have downloaded the results of this year’s Tidy Towns competition. We achieved 282 marks, up from 275 in 2013. The results for the past few years are as follows: 2011 – 268; 2012 – 271; 2013 – 275; 2014 – 282. We are creeping up each year and the adjudicators say very nice things to us but they don’t appear to reward us with an abundance of extra marks. Many thanks to those of you who continued to pick rubbish and to keep the flowers planted, watered and in such good order. Also to those who kept the weeds under control. The adjudicator this year admired the flowers in the Harbour area when last year we were told they were not in keeping with the surroundings of the canal. It seems we can’t win unless we somehow manage to engage our own adjudicator!!! We need to meet up to discuss next year’s competition. We haven’t done any fund-raising for three years now and our fund is going dangerously low. There are so many groups doing the Canal Walk that I doubt if we can repeat it. It is our intention to call a meeting in the coming weeks to arrange to raise some money. This is needed to pay for insurance and to buy flowers, compost etc. Hope you all had a great Summer. Wouldn’t it be great if the present Indian Summer continued for the remainder of September.
This was held yesterday in the St Brigid’s clubhouse. A good attendance was there. There was refreshments after and all went very well.
Happy Birthday to Aaron Farrell home on holidays who celebrated his 40th birthday with all his family and friends in the Richmond Inn on Saturday night.
