Lotto Envelopes can be left in the Letterbox in St Patrick’s Hall next to the National School for collection on Monday evenings and everyone is welcome to attend the draw. The club have an option of paying by direct debit for anyone wishing to join the LOTTO and give the club much needed support. Contact any club officer or check out the club website www.arvagfc.com Championship: Arva played Templeport in the Hotel Kilmore Junior Football Championship on Sunday last in Ballyconnell First Ulsters Park and after a tough encounter came away victorious on a score Arva 1-15 Templeport 1-8. Very little separated the sides in the first half with Arva leading at the interval by the minimum - 0-7 to 0-6. Templeport got the first score but then Arva had 4 points in a row by the 12th minute in the middle of which Arva goalie Richie Keith brought off a great save. Templeport pointed in the 14th minute but Arva added 3 more points to lead 0-7 to 0-2 by the 22nd minute. Templeport hit a purple patch and reeled off 4 points before the interval. They had the 1st point of the second half to draw the sides level and Arva then missed a great goal chance all inside the first minute. Arva dominated the second half to score 1-8 while Templeport could only score 1-2 to leave Arva worthy winners. Arva team and scorers – Richard Keith, Cormac McCabe, James Morris, Shane Finnegan, Thomas Brady, Ciaran Brady (0-1), Paul Bouchier, Fergal McGlade, Cian Sheridan, Conor McEntee, Jonathan McCabe (0-6), Peter Morris (0-2), Stephen Ellis (0-1), Kevin Bouchier (0-1), Conal Sheridan (0-4). Subs – Gavin Doyle (1-0), Brian Ellis, Sean McManus, Darren Gray. That win puts Arva into the Championship semi-final on this Saturday evening at 6.30pm in Kingspan Breffni Park against neighbours Cornafean who qualified by topping their group in the League stages of the competition. Arva will need to up their game considerably if they hope to advance to the final. Let us get all our supporters out for this game and be our 16th man.
For the Arva Church of Ireland Parish Group –This Sunday 21st September – Family Service in Columbkille at 10.00 am and in Gowna at 11.30 am. There will be no service in Carrigallen. Harvest Festival will be celebrated in Arva at 3.30pm with special music. Preacher Rev Dr Jean Mackeral. Tea after Service in the Memorial Hall. All welcome.
Croghan Presbyterian Church, Killeshandra will hold its annual Harvest Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, 28th September 2014 at 3.30pm. Guest speaker will be Rev Stanley Stewart, Clones. Refreshments follow. Everyone Welcome.

Sympathy is extended to Mrs May McCaughey, Farrangarve, Arva and Mr Michael Denning, Enaughan on the death of their brother, Mr Des Denning, Castle Road, Dundalk, Co Louth and formerly from Billis, Virginia which occurred suddenly on Monday, 1st September. His remains reposed at his residence and were taken to St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dundalk for Requiem Mass with Cremation afterwards in Glasnevin Crematorium.
Arva Agricultural Show Society will hold an important meeting on tomorrow Thursday night at 9pm in the Resource Centre, Market Square, Arva. All members are requested to attend and new members are always welcome – please be punctual.

The Breffni Kickers Line Dancing Classes commenced on Thursday night last and will continue each Thursday in the Breffni Arms Hotel, Arva with classes for beginners at 8.30 pm and for the more advanced at 9.30pm. Come along and enjoy a good night of dancing and fun.
The organisers ask that anyone with Cards or outstanding Sponsorship money to please hand it in to the Post Office, Main Street, Arva so that a final figure can be put on the amount and get a date arranged for the presentation. To date almost €1 million has been raised for St Luke’s Hospital for Cancer Care, Cure and Control, The National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI) and Cavan Cancer Homecare. The Thunder Rolls Garth Brooks Charity Concert featuring a host of very talented Carrigallen artists took place in the Breffni Arms Hotel Arva last Saturday 13th September in aid of Saint Christopher’s Hospice Cavan. Singing sensation Priest Father Ray Kelly also performed on the night. It was an absolutely outstanding nights entertainment and it was a credit to all those who performed. Sincere thanks to the Carrigallen artists fronted by Pat Doonan, Daniel Minma on sound, Father Ray Kelly, Ian Hall who sang on the night, Eamonn and Philomena Gray, Fosters Chemists and Keith’s Hardware for the spot prizes, all those who came along and to anyone who helped out on the night. A fantastic sum of 2,000 euro was raised on the night and on behalf of Saint Christopher’s Hospice Cavan your support was very much appreciated. Well done again to everyone involved!!!
