Walk a Mile with Emily

A huge thank you and well done to everyone who turned up to the ‘Walk a mile with Emily’ fundraiser on Sunday last the 14th of September. As you are aware little Emily Kane, Barraghmore, Drumlish, daughter of Teresa and Frank has a rare disease called Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis.. The walk started at Drumlish Community Centre and the family wish to thank the huge crowd that attended. Subscriptions are optional, and all monies collected will go towards Histiocytosis. Donations are still being greatly received.

Irish Dancing

Traditional Irish Dancing classes take place every Friday evening in the Community Centre, Drumlish at 4pm, under the tuition of Marian Kiernan A.D.C.R.N. All levels and ages catered for. Newcomers very welcome. Enquiries to Marian on 086-8478209.

Dancing Classes

Set Dancing classes return to the Welcome Inn, Cornageeha, starting on Tuesday night, 7th October at 9pm. All welcome.

Tractor Run 

On behalf of the residents, sincere thanks is accorded to everyone involved in the recent Philip Sorohan Tractor Run for the very generous donation which was graciously acknowledged and accepted for the Residents Comfort Fund in Árus Carolan. 

Congratulations to St Helen’s Ladies

Congratulations to the St Helen’s Intermediate team and their mentors who were victorious on Saturday last, the 13th of September in Pearse Park, Longford against Carrickedmond. We now wish you the very best of luck in the upcoming Leinster championship. A huge congratulations also to the player of the match Catriona O’Hara.

Double celebration

Rachel Murphy had a double celebration on Saturday, the 13th of September. She not only won the Intermediate championship with St Helens, she also turned twenty one. Rachel who is from Cloonaugh celebrated with family and friends in Gallaghers, Drumlish. Congratulations and Happy Birthday Rachel.

Gaels United

There will be a registration night for all Gaels Utd. players this Friday, 29th September from 8pm to 9pm in Drumlish Community Centre. As the start of the season is fast approaching it is important to get everyone registered on time. New players very welcome. Training for Gaels Utd FC takes place at Drumlish Astro-turf pitch.

St Vincent’s

U6/8: Well done to all the boys and girls who came out this year for training and blitzes thanks to all the mentors and parents for their help with this promising group of children. We would like to thank everyone who supported our church gate collection last week in Drumlish and Ballinamuck. We are running a draw for 2 All Ireland football Final tickets €2 a line or 3 line for €5 you can buy these from any committee member or in local shops or pubs. Your support would be much appreciated.

Bingo

Ballinamuck bingo continues every Tuesday at. 8.30pm, prize fund on the night €1300. Fun for all ages.

Baptism

Philip Sean Davis, son of Philip and Elaine, Loughan Hill, Drumlish. Tommy Kevin Davis, son of Kevin and Tara, Bohey, Drumlish. Dean McDermot, son of Stephan and Genevieve, Ohill who were all baptised and welcomed into the Christian family last weekend. We congratulate their parents also.

Well done Karen Gill

Karen Gill, youngest daughter of Thomas and Kathleen, Monaduff/Corrick took part in a duathlon in London last Sunday, the 14th of September which involved a 10km run followed by a 22km cycle and then finished with a 5km run. She is doing this race in order to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. she is hoping to raise at least €100 but of course would love to raise more. She has a page set up on ‘just giving’

Rainbows

The Rainbows Programme, a support group for children (5 years+) and teenagers who have experienced loss as a result of death or separation, begins in the Family Centre, Longford on Wednesday, 24th September at 6.00pm. Booking essential before 19th September at 043-3346827; 087-2843034.

Parish Cell System of Evangelisation

Sacrament Enrolment

The young people from St Mary’s N.S who are preparing for the sacraments of First Penance, First Communion and Confirmation will be enrolled at 11am Mass in Drumlish Church next Sunday.

Table quiz

The local basketball team Drumlish Dragons are holding a table quiz on Friday the 26th of September in the Olde Village Inn at 8.30pm. This is to raise more for a score board which will be a permanent fixture in the community centre and will be available to other teams and clubs to use. Teams of 4 are €40.00. There will be prizes for first, second and third places along with lots more prizes on the night. A raffle will also take place and your support would be greatly appreciated.

Talent Show

North Longford Arva Credit Union are looking for applicants to take part in the CU Factor on Saturday, October 11th in 98 Hall, Ballinamuck. Winners from this stage will go forward to the final in Ballinasloe with prizes up to €1000 on offer. The competition is open to all boys and girls aged 12 to 19 from Drumlish, Ballinamuck, Dromard, Colmcille and Arva and will showcase all talents from singers, dancers, magicians, lion tamers- the skys the limit! 98 Hall AGM

The AGM of the 98 hall took place on Wednesday 27th. The Committee was elected as follows – Chairperson: Adrian Lennon, Secretary: Rachel Howe, Assistant Secretary: Bridie Reilly, Treasurer: Mary Breslin, Assistant Treasurers: Betty Creegan and Micheal McNally, PRO: Antoinette Nugent.

Adrian thanked all those who helped with the running of the Hall, including those who help with the running of the weekly bingo and to the FAS workers for the maintenance of the hall. Anyone wishing to book the hall for any events please phone Adrian on (087) 705 6605.

Olde Fair thanks

Our second annual olde fair day was a fantastic success. Everyone that came had a great day and there was lots to keep everyone entertained for all ages. A big thank you to everyone who came to visit our fair day we hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did. Thank you to all the vintage clubs that took part in our vintage parade and had all on display around the 98, to all the stall holders hope you had a good day. Great entertainment was provided throughout the day by our local musicians well done. A huge thank you to all the local businesses that gave spot prizes for our raffle, to everyone that took photos they capture the day brilliantly. A massive thank you to our dedicated committee and volunteers who thanks to them the day ran smoothly.
