A Gowna students bursary to assist Gowna students undertaking a 3rd level course in 2014 is being provided by Gowna Community Development Association. There are six bursaries available at 500 euro each. Criteria: resident in Gowna hinterland and a college communication confirming acceptance of the student on a 3rd level course. Applications by email sought with name, address, mobile number and 3rd level college course to firstname.lastname@example.org. Deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs Marie Kiernan, Fostra, Aughnacliffe on the death of her husband, John Joe which occurred on Tuesday, 2nd September. Also sympathy to his sons Sean, Oliver, Raymond and Barry, daughter Marise, daughters in law, son in law, grandchildren, brothers Jim and Oliver, sister Bridgie, brother in law, sisters in law nephews and nieces. His remains were removed from his residence to St Colmcille’s Church, Aughnacliffe on Thursday evening and following funeral mass on Friday burial took place in adjoining cemetery. May he rest in peace.
Rita Nannery Memorial 5K walk/run on Sunday, 21st September 2014. Registration at Mullahoran church from 10.30am. Walk starts at 12pm. Entry fee 10 euro for over 16s. Refreshments served afterwards. Proceeds in aid of Bothar with donation to Mullahoran Apostolic Society. All welcome.
Gowna Development Association is seeking a young person to organise youth activities in St Brigid’s Community Centre. Under CSP it is for 19.5 hours per week at minimum wage. Loch Gowna Tidy Towns Association would like to thank all householders, business people and especially the SES scheme workers who contributed to Loch Gowna achieving 3rd place in county Cavan in the 2014 National Tidy Towns competition. Loch Gowna achieved an increase of 5 marks over last years mark of 270. Hopefully, next year we will achieve first place in the county.
