Mass will take place on Tuesday, 15 July in Abbeylara at 11.00am for Pee Galligan, Toneymore and Birmingham, England who died on Saturday, 28 June in Birmingham. This Mass will coincide with Pee’s Funeral Mass in Birmingham, on this day at this time.

Youth Festival in Medjugorje

Novena to St. Camillus
The above takes place from Thursday 10 to Sunday 13 July in St. Camillus’, Killucan, Co. Westmeath. Each evening from the 10 to 12 from 6.00pm to 8.00pm, there will be Veneration of the relics of the Saint, Confessions, and Prayers for the sick at 6.15pm. There will be Mass at 7.00pm (invited preachers).

25 Card Game
A 25 Card game takes place every Friday night in the Bay Horse, Granard at 9.30pm for a bottle of whiskey. Everyone is welcome.
The County Longford track and field finals took place recently in Ballymahon. We were well represented in all the races. The weekend started off with the field events and we only had 2 people involved. First up was Connor Leonard in the long puck who came away with the gold medal winning by 6 meters, next up was Aoife Leonard in the throw ball and this was a very tight competition but on her last throw and with 0.6m to spare took gold. On the Sunday was the track event. All the children done well in their heats but were not in the running for medals in the finals with the exception of Rachel Gillian won ran a great race in the U-16 100m and took gold in it and also our U-16 girls relay team of Rachel Gillian, Shannon O’Reilly, Shannon McEntire and Carmel McGivney who were piped at the line and took silver, Well done to all the children who took part over the weekend and we wish Connor, Aoife and Rachel all the best in the all Ireland finals in August.

Streete Parish Park Annual Vintage Day will take place on Saturday and Sunday, 12 and 13 July. The Philip Moran Memorial Tractor Run will be held on Saturday, 12 July at 4.00pm and the Vintage Show is on Sunday, 13 July at Kilmore Streete, Rathowen, Co. Westmeath just 4 miles off the N4 at Rathowen Church. There will be Vintage Cars, Tractors, Motorcycles, Stationery Engines, Horse Drawn Equipment and much more. There will be a special prize for the oldest car and tractor with tax book. There will be a state of the art venue with full catering facilities in our on site Sports Complex and Community Centre, annual dog show, outdoor bandstand with all day entertainment, many exhibitions and demonstrations throughout the day and also entertainment for children. . The judging of tidiest village is now taking place, so we would be grateful if everyone would bring home their empty cartons after empting the contents in the bottle banks. Some people are still leaving these at the banks beside the Handball Alley. We would also like to encourage everybody to pick up litter no matter what because the smallest sweet wrapper will lose us points. Thanking you for your help so far.

Tax Relief Scheme
In the past week, the certificates for the Tax Relief Scheme was sent out to all the people in our Parish who have contributed €250 or more to the Parish collections in 2013. From this year onwards, everyone (including self employed) is eligible to assist the parish in its claim from Revenue. Thus it would be appreciated if you could complete the CHY3 certificate and return it in the envelope provided by the 18 July, please.
