Folk Mass Carrickedmond folk group will perform at 10am Mass in Carrickedmond church on Sunday morning next the 23rd February. Folk group rehearsals continue in the church on Wednesday nights from 8pm to 9pm. New members always welcome.
Spring Stations The following spring stations will take place in the coming weeks for the following town lands in the parish. At the home of James and Laura Byrne on Wednesday, 19th February at 8pm for the Driminure area. At the home of Eugene and Bernie Quaine on Thursday, 20th February at 8pm for the Tashinney area. At the home of John and Chris Moran on Friday, 21st February at 8pm for the Lisnacreevagh area. At the home of Betty Martin on Wednesday, 26th February at 8pm for the Clonard area. At the home of PV McEntee on Monday, 3rd March at 8pm for the Ratharney area. At the home Joe and Shirley McCormack on Friday, 21st March at 8pm for the Colehill area.
Enrolment To St. Sinneach’s N.S. Colehill will take place in the school each day between 1pm and 3pm each day during week commencing the 24th to the 28th February inclusive. For more information contact the school office at 044-9357466.
Factory Re-Union Plans are underway for a re-union for the people who worked in Ballymahon clothing factory, Chaffey’s, Dubtex, Balman, Manford and Manford Direct. All past employees of these factories together with their partners, families and friends are invited and all others who would like to attend on the night are also welcome. The venue is the “The Rustic Inn” Abbeyshrule on Friday night the 25th April commencing at 9pm sharp. Music will be provided by various artists followed by a disco with DJ Michael Rooney. This promises to be a great night to renew old acquaintances. There will be a raffle and spot prizes and donations buckets will be at the door with all proceeds on the night going to local charities.
A number of local students from the parish have just completed their Junior and Leaving cert mock exams. No doubt all will be relieved that these exams have now finished. Hopefully, these exam results will give some indication to the students of the amount of work now needed to complete the real exams come June next. All students can now relax and enjoy the midterm break. Secondary school recommences on Monday, February 24th.
Mid term break
St Sinneach’s NS Colehill will close for the midterm school break on this Thursday and Friday the 20th and 21st February.

GAA 5K/10K Fun Run/Walk
The local GAA club are organising a 5K/10K fun run/walk which will take place on Saturday, the 10th March next. The event will commence from the GAA Complex in Carrickedmond at 11am with registration from 9am to 10:45am. The course measurement complies with IAAF rules and has chip and pin timing. Prize giving and free draw for all participants at 12:30pm in the GAA Complex. Refreshments also provided on the day. Entry fee is as follows. €10 walkers, €15 runners and €30 for family of four. Congratulations to the Carrickedmond under-11 mixed and under-13 girls basketball teams who were crowned County Community Games champions on Sunday last following their great wins over Newtowncashel and Lanesborough. Both games were very exiting right up to the final whistle and there was great support from the Carrick supporters as both sets of players received their gold medals following the games. Well done also to the coaches Michelle Mulvey and Rosie Hillard. Best of luck to both teams as they now represent their parish and county in the Leinster series. The teams were U-11 mixed: Caoimhe Mulvey, Caoimhe McCormack, Leah Shannon, Niamh Mulligan, Emma McGuire, Casey McNamara, John McCormack, Padraig Dempsey, Conor Mulvey and Cristian Cooke.
U-13 Girls: Lauren McGuire, Grace Esler, Ciara Mulligan, Eve Hillard, Kate Breslin, Aoife Mc Cormack, Hazel Farrell, Niamh Dempsey, Alama Quinlan and Grace Keegan.
Meeting will take place in the parish house on Monday night, the 24th February at 8pm. All members please attend.
Tidy Towns AGM
The Abbeyshrule Tidy Towns AGM will take place in the Rustic-Inn, Abbeyshrule on this Wednesday night, the 19th February at 8:30pm. All interested is invited to attend.
Table Quiz The ladies GAA club will hold a table quiz on Friday, March 14th in the Rustic-Inn, Abbeyshrule, commencing at 9pm. The cost for a table of four is €10 per person. There will be a raffle on the night with lots of cash prizes. All proceeds go to the local ladies football club.
Badminton Senior Badminton league continues with the various teams competing very well. It’s great to see the big numbers at club nights on Wednesday and Fridays. New members always welcome any Wednesday from 9pm. Please note there will be no badminton on Friday, 21st February, back as usual on Friday, the 28th. Upcoming events - U-15 and U-17 leagues will take place in Kenagh on Sunday February 23rd from 10.30 to 5pm. All members welcome. Cost €3 per person.
