Fireside Tales

Congratulations to Jude Flynn on the 11th Issue of “FiresideTales” which was launched last week. As usual this book has stories from all parts of Co. Longford of historical and local interest. It includes “Cutting the Corn – The Men from Derawley” and an interesting article on “Kiernan’s Drumlish”. The “Coming of the Old Age Pension to North Longford” makes interesting reading, and since many students from the area were associated with Fr.Declan Shannon during his time as chaplin at Moyne Community School, his story will be of interest to many from the area. There are many other interesting articles in this book which would no doubt make a very acceptable Christmas gift for anyone at home or abroad. Once again author Jude Flynn has captured tales of interest from many parts of the county and tells them in his own inimitable way. We wish him every success with “Fireside Tales NO.11” and like all the other editions we hope it is a successful production for him.
