Congratulations and best wishes to Lorraine Flanagan,daughter of Sean and Pauline, Ledwithstown and Michael Rogan, Tooman, Co Leitrim, who were married in Saint Dominic’s Church, Kenagh on Saturday, December 7th. Celebrant of the wedding ceremony was Father Tom Barden, assisted by Father John Quinn. Best man was Cathal MacCrann and groomsmen were John Flanagan, Kieran Kilkenny and Paul Flanagan, chief bridesmaid was Bernie Flanagan. Bridsesmaids were Lisa Rogan, Jenny Egan and Sabrina Clyne. Flower girls were Molly Rogan and Kacey Lyster. Page boys were Sean Rogan and Nathan Rogan. Offertory gifts from Pauline Flanagan and Liz Rogan. Church music was rendered by the McLoughlin family. The reception was held in the Bloomfield Hotel Mullingar. We wish the newly married couple many happy years of wedded life.
Kenagh and District Development Association wish to sincerely thank all the local community groups and individuals who supported our fund raiser last weekend (November 29th). The total raised so far is 4700 euro. It is all very much appreciated and the benefits will be evident early in the new year. The playground company hope to start work in the coming weeks. All the material required has been delivered on the site over the past few days. We hope to have a fully operational playground for all the children very soon after Christmas. Our Christmas tree was switched on at the clock tower last Saturday night December 7th. The ceremony was attended by a large crowd of children and adults who were all treated to mulled wine, soft drinks and gifts for all children present. The switch on ceremony was conducted by councillor Colm Murray. Our thanks to all the FAS staff and voluntary workers who put up the tree and lights for the occasion.

We offer sincere sympathy to Jack Donlon, Moydow, his brother Tony in USA, Teresa and Sr Winnifred on the death of their brother, Mel Donlon, Battery Road, Longford which occurred at very short notice on Saturday December 7th. We also extend sympathy to Mel’s family and extended family on the same bereavement. Mel was a very well known and popular garage proprietor in Longford town for many years.

Santa Claus will be coming to Kenagh at 4pm on Sunday afternoon December 22nd. The grand old man will attend at Gav’s Bar with gifts for all children present. Santa tickets on sale from 3.30pm on the day at 5 euro each with entrance based on ticket number. There will be a disco all evening. Please bring your camera for pictures with Santa.
The AGM of Kenagh GAA Club takes place on Sunday, December 15 at 3pm in St Dominic’s Community Centre. All members are urged to attend to give their views, opinions and suggestions for the year ahead.
Kenagh GAA are holding their annual dinner dance in the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule on Saturday 28th December. Dinner will be served at 8pm and music on the night will be provided by the Dance On Band. This year’s dinner dance will be held in conjunction with the Gathering and will be marking the 50th anniversary of Kenagh’s triumph in the 1963 Longford U21 championship. Everyone welcome.

Ardagh Ladybirds, Brownies and Guides invite everyone to an Afternoon of Christmas; Brownies present: Gold to Bethlehem; Guides bring you a Medieval Midwinter traditional Mummers Play and join the Ladybirds for a sing-song of Christmas favourites! Saturday, 14th December at 3pm in Ardagh Community Centre. Adults €5, children free - under 14s must be accompanied by an adult. Refreshments and Raffle.
