Trip to Wales
A trip to the CRN UK Championships in Swansea Wales was recently organised by the Mc Cartin SD. A group of sixty two people consisting of dancers and parents departed Drumreilly Community Centre destined for Fishguard Harbour. Staying in Swansea City Centre, the group had the opportunity to take in some sightseeing, shopping, and a trip to LC Indoor Water Park and a full day of competition! While the majority of competitors were UK based, a large number of Irish competitors made the journey which resulted in strong competition for all those competing. Following the event a grand total of eighty four awards including eighteen gold, twenty- five silver and forty one bronze were collected by the McCartin SD. The forty-fourth Drumreilly Bazaar, which ran on Friday and Saturday lived up to its reputation, and drew last big crowds on both nights. The Committee members are grateful for the support by way of attendance and donations of both local people and supporters from surrounding parishes. Wreaths. Wreath making which continued following the meeting will continue on Sunday December at 3.30 p.m. Those wishing to purchase same are asked to call to the Community Centre on that date. Drumreilly Group will be hosting the South Leitrim Forum on January 15th.
A novel game of football will take in Carrickmakeegan on St. Stephen’s Day. The proceeds will go towards Cancer Research. Your support for a worthy cause is earnestly requested. Come along and see some of our returned exiles in action.
Recalling December 1992
A Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Drumlea with Fr. John Sexton as celebrant was broadcast on Shannonside Radio. Drumreilly I.C.A. Guild ran a Cookery Class conducted by the late Mrs. Rosemary Duignan B. Dom. Sc. Carrigallen in the Community Centre. A Variety Concert drew a full house in the Community Centre. Drumreilly U-16’s unbeaten run in the
Div.1 Winter League was halted by Drumkerin, but they got back to winning ways with a 1-13 to 1-3 win over Allen Gaels, taking them to a place in the final in which they were beaten by 3-8 to 2-9 on January 30th. Páirc Droim Oir Bhealaigh scooped the Grounds of the Year Award. There was joy for Graham and Denise Strutt, Mullaghboy with the birth
of their baby son Gregory. Drumreilly Bazaar was run jointly by the G.A.A. Club and the Community Centre Committee. St. Mary’s Youth Band led Santa into Ck on Shannon for the Christmas Lights switch-on. The following officers were elected at the Drumreilly G.A.A.
