Year of faith
October 11, 2012 – November 24, 2013. (50th anniversary of the opening of the second vatican council – solemnity of Christ the King). A celebration of faith and ministry, ordained and lay and the promotion of vocations, by the Granard Deanery of parishes will take place in the deanery church, Saint Marys Granard at 7.30pm on Monday October 21 next the day after Mission Sunday.
The death occurred peacefully at her residence on Monday September 16th last of Mrs Ellen Denneny, nee O’Neill. A native of Co Limerick, Ellen passed to her eternal reward just some months after having celebrated her 100th birthday. Of a very pleasant and friendly disposition she will be sadly missed by her loving family. Her remains were removed to St Marys Church Carrick on Tuesday evening. Internment took place in adjacent cemetery the next morning following Requiem Mass con-celebrated at 12 noon. The chief celebrant was the deceased son, Fr Alan Denneny. Deepest sympathy is extended to her sons Fr Alan, Cecil and Brendan, daughters Patricia and Angela, sons in law, grandchildren and large family circle RIP.
Congratulations to Miss Cathy Arkins, Kilcogy and Mr Andrew Kennedy, Castlepollard who were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony in St Mary’s Church, Carrick on Saturday Sept 14th last. Following the ceremony, families and friends adjourned to Crover House Hotel, Mountnugent on the banks of Lough Sheelin for a splendid wedding reception followed by many happy hours of song and dance to the sound of “Night Fever”. We wish Andy and Cathy good luck, health and happiness throughout the years ahead.
Congratulations to Mr Terry Moore, Castletown, Finea on his success at the recent ploughing championships. He was the overall winner of the all Ireland loy digging competition and now holds the All Ireland loy digging champion title. Well done Terry.
Congratulations to Miss Theresa Ginnell, Castletown-Finea and Mr Edward Byrne, Multyfarnham who were married in Multyfarnham, Church on Friday September 6th last. Following the ceremony families and friends travelled to the Park Hotel, Mullingar for a delightful wedding reception. We wish Theresa and Edward good luck and every happiness for the future.
Ballymachugh parish presents an atmospheric evening of glorious vocal and instrumental sacred music by candlelight with local soprano Eileen Coyle, accompanied by Owen C Lynch in St Mary’s Church, Carrick Finea on Friday 11th October commencing at 8pm. Adm 10 euro. All profits go to Carrick and Ballynarry Church Funds. This promises to be a glorious evening of inspirational music, not to be missed.
