The 8pm Vigil Mass this Saturday, 5th October is in memory of the late Jack Carthy and deceased members of the Carty family, Lisryan and Friday, 11th October at 8p.m. in memory of the late Paddy, Teresa and Jimmy Parker and deceased Parker and Molloy families.
We ask for all who received invitations to our Gathering event on Saturday, 26th of this month to please return them to Brian or leave them in the shop in Streete for Brian. Whether your answer is “yes or no” please return the card as we need to tell the caterers. It will be a great help to us and we appreciate any help.
“Streete & its People” is the official title for the Parish History which finally went to print last week after an enormous effort from parishioners, friends and the working group for the publication. It is hoped to launch in about two weeks’ time – see next week’s notes.
The ordination of our new Bishop Fr. Francis Duffy takes place at 3p.m. on Sunday next, 6th October in St. Mary’s Athlone. I am told there are still a limited number of entry tickets for the ceremony. If interested please contact Fr. Joe McGrath 087 8363523.
Please note the Pastoral Council discussed future Mass times with a view to the future when there will be fewer priests available and decided from 1st November the Rathowen/Streete Vigil Mass will be brought back to 6pm for the future.
A Streete/Rathowen Labour Party Fund Raiser Table Quiz will take place on Friday, 11th October in Fiddlers Green, Streete. Tables of 4 are €20, junior table €10, Cash prizes, raffle and refreshments on the night. Support appreciated.
Our Rural Arts group are getting together once again in The Cornmill Pub in Boherquill when we will have some top class music from our own young people and our friends from Ballynacargy. Our Chairman on the night as always will be Eamon Donoghue who does M.C. We will have a short A.G.M. beforehand and the music will start about 9p.m. Please try and support us as we encourage the youth. Finger food on the night.

The good news is that our P.R.O. is back so next weeks notes will be back to normal. Last Sunday members walked with the group in aid of the Irish Wheelchair Association from Mullingar to Coolnahay. The clubs support was greatly appreciated and thanks to all.

St. Fintan’s National School, Lismacaffrey A.G.M. took place last Thursday night and the newly elected committee are - Chairperson, Liz Coade; Secretary, Julie Badrick and Treasurers Marie Keary and Orla McLoughlin. Many thanks to Tracey Carthy, Mel F. French and Anne Marie Durkin who have stepped down for all their hard work during last year. The next meeting will be on 17th October at 9p.m. in the School.
There was a good attendance of club members from the Roscommon region at the charity clay shoot which Roscommon RGC ran in the Streete grounds on Saturday last. All proceeds from the shoot are going to a charity in the Roscommon area. The club would like to thank all the members who have helped with the development in the club grounds over the last few weeks. A special word of thanks to Padraig McGauran and Brendan Mulligan for all their work in making the new roadway.
