WEATHER: The cold wet weather which has affected us for the past six months has continued unabated right up to the present moment. Even as we are coming up to the middle of May there is no sign of spring or early summer activities. Flooded land, hungry livestock, poor crops of fruit , corn and potatoes are the main subject of discussion by so many disillusioned rural folk. Bogs too are seriously flooded with no sign of turf machines at work. At this point in time we would need a month of dry sunny weather to just get back to normal. If the inclement weather continues as it is, it could have serious consequences for next winter’s food supply and turf crop.
