Drama: Legan Drama Group will stage their production of John B Keane’s “Sive” on the 9th, 10th and16th March in the Aurora Hall. A meeting of cast and background staff will take place on Monday 4th in The GAA Clubhouse at 9pm. Bookings are now being taken on 087 9022804.
GAA: Results of GAA Lotto draw held in Slowey’s on Monday 18th February for a jackpot of €6,150. Numbers drawn were 1, 2, 5 and 30. There was no jackpot winner. Match three winner of €100 was Anne Egan, Ferafad, Longford .This week’s draw took place in Casey’s Carrickboy and results will be published next week.
First Friday: This Friday March 1st is the First Friday and Holy Communion calls to the sick and housebound will be on Thursday and Friday at the usual times.
Sympathy: The death took place last week after a short illness of Ann Egan, Vicarstown. A native of Milltown, Ballynacargy she has lived in Vicarstown for the past number of years. She was a popular and inoffensive lady and supporter of local organisations. To her family, relative and friends we extend our sincere sympathy. May she rest in Peace.
Community Alert: A meeting of Ardagh & Ballycloghan Community Alert will take place in Ardagh Community Centre on Wednesday night at 8.00pm. If anyone is interested in monitored alarm pendants, grants have been sanctioned since 1st February. Application forms will be available at this meeting. Also names and mobile phone numbers for text alert scheme will be available on the night.
Inny Anglers: This week’s Inny Anglers Lotto draw was held in Mitchell’s on Sunday for a jackpot of €1,650. There was no jackpot winner. Special draw winners were Maggie Kirwan and Gavin Shaughnessy each €40. Members in charge of draw for month of March are Maureen and John Boyce. Inny Anglers Club extends deepest sympathy to the Egan family, Milltown on the death of their sister Ann who passed away last week. Ann was a great supporter of the Club.
Lourdes Invalid Collections: The organisers of the Church Gate Collection for Lourdes Invalid fund wishes to thank all who supported so generously. A total of €1,002 was collected and has been forwarded to the organisation. This money will go towards sending someone who is sick or convalescing to Lourdes on the Diocesan Pilgrimage which takes place from 27th May to 1st June.
Céili: The Annual St Patrick’s Night Céile takes place in the Aurora Hall, Legan on 17th March from 10-1pm. Tickets will soon be available at €10 including supper.
Recruitment Drive: Longford Federation ICA will hold a recruitment day on Saturday 2nd March in Tesco and Super Valu Shopping Malls Longford and at Horse Fair in Lanesboro. Information tables will be available from 10.00-4.00pm. This will be a good opportunity for people to find out the advantages of becoming a member.
Walking Club: This Saturday 2nd March the Walking Group will assemble in Abbeyshrule at 10.00am. New members always welcome.
Dinner Dance: The Annual Legan Sarsfield GAA Dinner Dance takes place in the Rustic Inn Abbeyshrule on Friday 8th March. Music will be supplied on the night by Dave and the Blue Hats. Tickets are now on sale from any GAA member.
Community Games: Well done to all the children who took part in the U10 handwriting competition, the results are as follows: Girls 1st Erica Cahill O’Leary. 2nd Zara Moran and 3rd Anna Moran. Boys 1st Gary Murtagh 2nd Shane Burke and 3rd Barry Matthews. We would like to thank Joe Hunt who kindly judged this competition for us. ‘Thanks Joe for your Time and Knowledge’. Indoor games continue in the hall each Friday night from 7-8pm. Shortly we will be heading outdoors when the clock changes for some great workouts!! The Basketball for our age groups are in full training each week. Dates to remember: Our sponsored cycle/walk good friday the 29th of March. Church gate collection 23rd and 24th of March.
Carricksarsfields Minor Club: Our Registration took place last Friday night in Carrickedmond. There was a good turnout. There will be another registration date in March. Please not the importance of registration as a player is not insured to play otherwise.
