COMMUNITY ALERT MEETING: On Tuesday 5th March the newly formed Community Alert Committee have organised a meeting at 8pm in Rathowen Community Centre. Guest speaker will be Sergeant John Connolly, who is the crime prevention officer for Westmeath Garda Division. Anyone wanting to get on the Text Alert programme will have a chance at the meeting to sign up. This meeting is for every resident who wants to learn how to protect their property and belongings.

LOTTO: The next lotto draw will be held on Monday the 4th March, the last draw held was the 18th February and the Jackpot was €8400, the winning numbers were 7, 12, 22 & 25, there was no winner of the Jackpot and the drawn winners were Kate Keegan, James Nulty & Claire Nugent. The Jackpot is now €8600 so well worth buying a ticket, tickets cost €2 a line or 3 lines for a €5 and you can get tickets in the Post Office or Connaughton’s Pub and don’t forget the local sellers. 3 X 15 CARD DRIVE: Fundraiser in aid of The Irish Cancer Society in Ballynacargy Parochaial Hall on Good Friday 29th March at 9pm. Monster Raffle on the night tickets are €5, €600 in prize money and spot prizes.

SAINT THOMAS NATIONAL SCHOOL: Are holding their open evening on Thursday 28th February from 2.30pm to 6.30pm. Please contact the school for more information on 043-6676210.

ST MARY’S NATIONAL SCHOOL: Two representatives from Mullingar Fire Service visited the school on Tuesday last and spoke to 3rd to 6th Classes. They gave a very informative talk on the dangers of fire in the home/school. Twelve children from 2nd class made their First Confession on Thursday last.

RUNBROSNA: “runbrosna” Bunbrosna GAA are holding a 5/10k walk or run on Saturday 2nd of march at 11.30am, registration from 10.30 am at Bunbrosna club house all our welcome.

COUNTRY MARKETS: Granard country market held their annual general meeting on Friday morning last and the following officers were elected for the coming year.Chair person Alan Harrison,Vice chair, Maggie Norton, secretary Angela Durkin,Treasurer Pat Wilson, Assistant treasurer Evelyn Stafford, P.R.O. Eileen Kilbride, Controller Ann O Hara. The market is open from 8-30am to 11am every Friday morning in the town Hall and watch out for Mother’s day, St. Patrick’s Day and Easter goodies over the coming weeks.
