Death of GAA stalwart

The funeral of GAA stalwart Seamus Greene who died on Sunday is taking place today, Wednesday, at St Mary’s Church Newtownforbes at 12 noon. Mr Greene, a native of Newtowncashel, was a former Co Longford player and also a Leinster GAA delegate. He worked with Longford Co Council all his life and was the Manager of the tote at Longford Greyhound Track. A minute’s silence was held for him at the track on Monday night.

Pre-deceased by his son TJ, he is survived by his wife Mai, daughters Marie and Roisin, son Seamus Og, sister Celine and extended family and friends. Full obituary in next week’s Leader.
