Minor League Draw: It was the battle of the Gaels on Saturday last as Garadice Gaels and Melvin Gaels divided the spoils in what was an entertaining Minor League game on the dry sod of Kinlough, the fare made all the more entertaining because of the spring sunshine. 
The final score was 1-12 to 0-15. Sympathy: The death has taken place of Mrs. Teresa McGerty, Longfield. Her funeral took place on Monday last following Mass of the Resurrection in St. Mary’s Church, Drumeela to the adjoining cemetery. Sympathy is extended to her sons, sister, grandchildren and other relatives, which include her niece Veronica McKeon, Drumlea and members of the McCartin family, Ardunsaghan. Former Curraghtowey resident Mr. Christy Canning, war hero and entrepreneur was Guest of Honour at a Leitrim Society Dinner in New York. St. Mary’s Youth Band performed in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in both Longford and Mullingar. The deaths took place at Mount Carmel Hospital of nonagenarian Mrs. Margaret King, Terenure, retired teacher who was formerly on the teaching staff in Dohern and Gortahose schools, former Dumreilly resident Victor Egar Patterson, Belfast, Drumdiffer-born Michael Mitchell, former Drumcoura resident Mr. Paddy Kearns, Hammersmith, who played at left half back in 1931 when Drumreilly won the Leitrim Senior Championship and of Crickeen-born ninety-seven years old Elizabeth Brady nee Reilly New York.
