PLAYGROUND: - It has been noticed that lots of School children who come to play sports in our Streete Parish Park Centre congregate in the play area and mostly they are overage for the equipment which is for the smaller children. Teachers or whoever is in charge are asked to prevent this as we have seen as many as six on a sea saw made for two and as many as five on a swing. Also the writer sees graffiti with markers in the woodwork. Adults are asked to keep an eye out when in the park. – Thank you.

BOHERQUILL RAMBLERS: - Deirdre Leavy led the Ramblers on a new walk near Edgeworthstown last Sunday afternoon in beautiful spring weather. The route started at Bohernacross and passed through Glen to Glen Lough which has been developed as a nature reserve. Gravel pathways lead to viewing points and a hide for birdwatchers overlooking the reed beds of the Lough, which is now greatly diminished in size as a result of local drainage. Whooper swans, geese and water rail have been seen on the Lough, although last Sunday other birds could be heard but just four swans were visible. Thousands of new trees have been planted in the area and a small man-made pond will soon fill with wildlife. Thank you to Deirdre for researching and organising such an enjoyable walk. Next Sunday, March 10th, the Ramblers will visit Glasson. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet at the garage on the Athlone road out of Ballymahon at 2pm. Patricia Bruton is accepting payment for the St. Patrick’s weekend trip to Strangford at 250 each. For further details please contact Brian on 086 2596656. Ramblers are reminded that any unpaid subscriptions are now due; 20 each or 30 for a family.
