Carol Singing: Christmas Carols with St. Mary’s Church Choir Granard will be on Saturday 22 December at 8.00pm in the Church grounds. Please contribute generously. All proceeds raised will go to local charities.

Dance Classes: Social Dance classes continue every Thursday night in the Longford Arms Hotel Longford. Beginners 8pm – 9pm; Improvers 9pm-10pm and dancing 10 -11pm jive, foxtrot, waltz and quickstep. €10 per class and all welcome no partners needed. County Markets: On Friday last Granard country market celebrated it’s 33rd birthday and held a raffle to mark the occasion. Winners were Denise Cassidy, Ann Columb and Marie O’Rourke. This Friday 21st December is the last market before Christmas and puddings, cakes, mince pies, cards and other goodies for the festive season will be on offer. Pitch & Putt: Granard Pitch and Putt club held their A.G.M. in St. Mary’s G.A.A. Clubhouse on Saturday evening, 15 December at 6pm. The Chairman Benny Fay welcomed the large attendance and said it was great to see the interest shown as the Club is a community based facility. Benny paid a special thank you to the Supervisor and C.E. workers of Granard Area Action Group for the dedication and detail they have shown over the past year in keeping the course looking so well. Walk or Run a Mile for Charity!: St Mary’s GFC will hold its annual “Walk or Run a Mile for Charity”, on St. Stephen’s Day, in Higginstown Sports Complex, at 12 noon. This year, the event will be in aid of maintaining Special Needs teaching for all children in Granard Community Childcare facility -”The Hill”. This is a very worthy cause and very important for all children who avail of this assistance. So, what better way to support this worthwhile cause than to come out and stretch the legs on St Stephen’s Day! Afterwards, there will be light refreshments in St Marys GFC Clubhouse. All welcome and your support is greatly appreciated.
County Longford Rural Transport: Longford Community Resources Ltd (LCRL) manage and administer the Rural Transport Programme, which covers the rural regions of County Longford.
