WALKWAY: - Streete Parish Park Committee had a Committee meeting last Friday night and everyone was delighted with the amount of use our new walkway is getting. People are high in praise of the walk and the comfort underfoot. The light standards are erected and the lights are expected within the next two weeks or so. All are welcome to avail of the facility, just to respect other users, we have some minor rules. - All dogs must be on a lead (with the exception of Timmy). All dog owners must bring a paper bag to clean up if necessary. No bicycles allowed except for small children Footballers, please note no running on track with stud boots. We know these few rules will be kept and we thank all in advance. All will be delighted to hear there is no charge for using the track but we are appealing to anyone who can to buy a lotto envelope each fortnight, envelopes cost only €2 each or 3 for €5. We would also recommend buying an Annual Envelope for €50 or going on line at www.streetesportscomplex.ie local lotto at a special price of €44 for the year. Annual envelopes available from Brian 086 2596656 or from the office in the Park. We have spiked the pitches, done drainage etc. and hope to build a shed. This can be made easier on the treasurers if you can see your way to join our Lotto Annual System. Thank you and enjoy Streete Parish Park Walkway and facilities.

BOHERQUILL RAMBLERS: - The Ramblers walked in Mullaghmeen Forest, near Castlepollard, to mark National Trails Day on last Sunday October 7th. The group chose to follow the white walk, which takes a little over two hours to complete and is one of several marked loop walks through the Forest. The Forest is the largest planted beech forest in Europe, covering about a thousand acres and on last Sunday the trees were just beginning to assume their autumn colours. Some of the trees were already shedding their foliage and together with the thinning of trees in several areas, views of the surrounding countryside were opening up with Lough Sheelin and the hills of Loughcrew in sight in the clear air.On next Sunday, October 14th, the Ramblers will visit Edgeworthstown for their walk. Cars will leave Boherquill at 1.30pm and meet at the church in Edgeworthstown at 2pm. The Ramblers will visit Abbeyshrule on Sunday October 21st to commemorate the village’s wonderful win in this year’s Tidy Towns Competition. After a walk around the village the group will retire to The Rustic Inn for tea and scones to show their appreciation of this great achievement.
