OVER 50S: afternoon outing to Virginia area on Friday October 19th with refreshments ,music and craic in the Park Hotel Virginia . KNITTING AND STITCHING SHOW: Bus travelling to the knitting and stitching show in the RDS Dublin on Saturday 3rd November with pick up in Ballinagh and Kilnaleck and for more details and booking call Seamus on (086) 0530732.

IRISH RED CROSS:Ballinagh /Ballintemple branch of the Irish Red Cross will hold an open night on this Thursday 18th October at 8.30pm in Ballinagh Community Centre - the aim is to train new people from the area and from surrounding areas in the skills of basic first aid. Please come along on the night and do find out how you can learn a new lifesaving skill and more information. Our area needs more people trained in first aid skills and your presence on the night would be very much appreciated. So do please come along.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS: Ballinagh Foroige Club are helping with the collecting of old coins as a fundraiser for the special olympics Ireland. The special olympics committee gathers up the coins through the help of schools, youth clubs etc and they are then brought into the Ulster Bank where they will be exchanged for euro. If you ,your family or anyone of your friends have old coins of any currency from around the world please send them into Ballinagh school or leave them in the O’Raghailly Hall on Friday night between 7pm and 8.30pm on or before Friday 26th October. We would especially appeal to anyone working in jobs with a lot of other colleagues to please ask them for their support and thank you for your support and co-operation.

COMMUNITY ALERT:Ballinagh Community alert group has been established for concerns such as care of the elderly and vulnerable and people who live alone and to enable crime prevention and to proactively participate in improving the quality of life and safety for the community in general.The community alert Group have decided to designate individual areas to local people whereby community issues or concerns can be brought to the attention of that person and in turn relayed to the group and appropriate action taken . CHAMPIONS GREETED: on Saturday night the victorious Lacken team received a warm welcome from the local community as they arrived in the town following their victory earlier that evening at Kingspan Breffni Park where they emerged as Cavan Intermediate football champions for 2012 while six days earlier the town played host to the victorious Mullahoran senior team as they arrived with the coveted Plunkett Club which the club had won for the twelfth time with their first senior championship coming their way in 1935 while sixty years ago this week thousands of loyal Cavan supporters thronged the streets of the county town to welcome home for the third time in six years – our senior county team as All Ireland senior football champions with that 1952 Al Ireland success bringing special happiness to local gaels as two members of the victorious team Des and Liam Maguire were active sons of this parish.
