FIRST HOLY COMMUNION: The Sacrament of First Holy Communion was administered to three pupils from Finea NS on Sunday morning last in St Mary’s Church, Finea at 10.30am Mass. Celebrant was Fr Patrick Moore PP. They were Sophie Flynn Nathan Kiernan and Adrian Novak who each looked resplendent and were a credit to their parents and teachers who had put so much effort into preparing them for their special day. The special children’s choir enhanced the ceremony very much making it a most memorable day for the three children concerned. Well done to all !

RECENT WEDDING: Congratulations to Mr Noel Reilly Kilgolagh Finea and Miss Rebecca Nea Castlepollard who were married in St Michael’s Church Caslepollard on Sat last May 18th. The nutpial mass was celebrated by Fr Patrick Moore PP Castlepollard assisted by Fr Frank Gray PP Ballymachugh. Following the ceremony families and friends travelled to Cabra castle Kingscourt for a delightful wedding reception. We wish Noel and Rebecca good luck and every happiness throughout the years ahead.

BLOOMS FESTIVAL: The local ICA guild are travelling to the Blooms Flower festival Phoenix PK Dublin on Friday June 1. Bus leaving Finea village at 9am. Further info from Lily at 086 8771976.

GOOD SHEELIN FISHING: The lake has fished very well over the past couple of weeks with large hatches of May fly being spotted. Last week saw a most important and prestigious event held in The International fly fishing competition which was last held on this lake in 1976. Teams from Ireland England Scotland and Wales competed with the Irish team emerging victory. Congratulations. The popular Sheelin Classic trout competition will be held on the lake on Sun June 10th – 11am – 6pm.Entry fee 65 euro for a boating angler and 85 euro for non boating. Numerous prizes 1st 19 Ft Sheelin boat trailer and crystal; 2nd 5 hp 4 stroke outboard engine and crystal; 3rd 54 euro elec engine and crystal.

ANNUAL BBQ: The annual Bar B Q in aid of C/Finea Church Funds will be held on Sun June 3 in Watty’s Rock Finea commencing at 5pm. Music by Adrianne. Our support would be greatly appreciated.

CFCW BBQ: A sponsored cycle and Bar B Q from Croke park to Finea will take place on exercise bikes in Fitzsimons Bar Finea at 4pm on Sun next 27 May. A fun evening’s entertainment is assured.

BLESSING OF GRAVES: The annual blessing of graves will take place in St Marys cemetery Finea following 10.30am mass on Sun June 3rd. All plotholders are reminded to please tidy up their graves and surrounding areas.
