CREDIT UNION: Castlepollard Credit Union held their Summer Car Draw outside the Credit Union Office, The Square, Castlepollard, on Saturday, July 30th. The results were as follows:- Renault Clio 5DR Royale - Mary Fagan, Whitehall; 5000 Euro - Annie Moran, Simonstown; 1000 Euro - Michael O’Hara, Finea Road, Castlepollard; 500 Euro - John Bonham, Trumroe. The following each won 200 euro - Mairead and Bernard Masterson, Oldcastle; Oliver Smyth, Collinstown; Lourdes Invalid Fund; John Aughey, Kingscourt, Castlepollard; Kevin Smyth, Dublin Road; Mary Hunt, Collinstown. The next Car Draw will take place at the AGM just before Christmas when the first prize will be a car, second prize 5000 euro, third prize 2000 euro, fourth prize 1000 euro, sixth and seventh prizes 500 euro each, and seven prizes of 200 euro. Members wishing to partcipate in the Car Draw should ensure they have a minimum of 50 euro in their account. Regarding Student Loans. The Board of Directors congratulates all students who recently received their Leaving Cert results and reminds them that student loans are available from the Credit Union for those who are continuing on to third level education and for those who are already in third level education. 5K ROAD RACE:This year’s North Westmeath 5K Road Race was very well supported, despite the heavy rain and overcast skies. More than 400 athletes, both elite and novice, lined up for the start of the race which began near the Square, and made its way out to Tullynally Castle bafore finishing hear the Fire Station. Junior races were held on the Square from 7.00pm, with the main event starting at 8.00pm. Castlepollard GAA Club made their clubhouse on the Pakenhamhall Road available for athletes to use the shower facilities etc, and following the even, refreshments were available in McCormack’s, The Square, Castlepollard. Congratulations and very well done to all the participants, sponsors, stewards and organisers who contributed to making this years event such a success.
