St. Christopher’s: On Friday night last the Rustic Inn played host to a fund raising show in aid of St. Christopher’s Services, Longford. The event was a resounding success with proceeds currently standing at €7,600. This figure is expected to rise when the final tally is complete. The large crowd enjoyed a variety of acts. Veronica Moran and Liam Butler are now “old hands” at performing for St. Christopher’s. No eulogising required, just thanks again. A special mention must be reserved for little Lauren McGuire and her older brother Justin from Carrickedmond who gave a scintillating demonstration of Irish dancing. This was something special and worth the admittance fee alone. Mick Flavin and his band finished off the night with a rousing performance. The big Drumlish man ensured that that the dance floor was fully utilised from start to finish as he belted out all of his favourites. The organisers are deeply indebted to many people who contributed much to the success. All who sold tickets, both prior to the event and raffle tickets during the night. There is nothing easy or glamorous about this work. The amount of goodwill and affinity towards the activities of St. Christopher’s Services is reflected by the many unsolicited offers of sponsorship, of both raffle and spot prizes, from various quarters. This is welcomed and appreciated. Local correspondents and local radio were invaluable in promoting the event. Finally, Legan Branch of St.Christopher’s wishes to thank all who purchased tickets and came out in large numbers.
