Under 10’s Triumph: Congratulations are in order for our Under 10 school children on coming out on top in the recent Granard tournament final. Taking on near neighbours Bunlahy the locals had the advantage at the interval on a scoreline of 2-0 to 0-4. Following the break the Mullinalaghta side proved too strong for the opposition and were worthy winners by 5-2 to 0-7. The starting line out was Raymond McGivney, Caoimhe Lynch (Captain), Cathal Byrne, Mark Mc Nerney, Conor Leonard, Jack d ‘Arcy and Caoláin O’Connell. The subs used were Cian Reilly, Emmet Brady, Aoife Leonard and Siobhán Leonard. Others who were on the bench and played their part in the campaign were Shannon D’Arcy, Liam Byrne and Lisa Marie Leonard. There was great celebrations as Caoimhe Lynch was presented with the trophy. All on the panel received statuettes. Appreciation is expressed to Granard Credit Union for their sponsorship. Last but not least we say well done to Thomas McNerney and David Leonard for having the little ones so well prepared. Mark McNerney was the top scorer with 3 – 2 to his credit. Jack D’Arcy and Conor Leonard netted a goal each.

This will be followed by a barbecue at the Angler’s Rest to which are all invited to attend. Sponsorship cards are available at Mulligan’s shop and Cloonagh P.O. Thanks to all in anticipation of your support.
Senior Championship: On Saturday evening last St. Columba’s and near neighbours Abbeylara met in round 1 of Peter Hanley Motors Senior Football Championship. In a close and entertaining encounter Abbeylara emerged victorious. The fact that our goal scorer Conor Mc Elligott was immediately forced to leave the field of play as a result of a devious and cowardly foul did not help our cause. Conor did resume his position following the interval, but unfortunately was injured again. However, all is not lost as redemption can be regained with results against Ardagh and Clonguish. Boys remember the statement – Is Féidir Linn.
