Athletics Club: Well done to the children who took part in the Connacht Finals in Sligo a great day was had by all. Training Tuesday eve in Lanesboro at seven and Saturday at St Barry’s Pitch in Tarmonbarry from 12.30 to 1.30pm.
Community Games: Under 10’s Gaelic football had their first match against Oran on Wednesday eve .After a very close game Tarmonbarry/Scramogue came out on top final score 2-5 to 1-6 which puts them through to the next round. Well done to all. Well done to Leanne Carrington and Leah Fleming who took part in the u 14 shot putt and u 12 Ball throw in Taughmaconnell Friday eve.Both girls did well but missed out on the medals. County finals for Swimming took place in Roscommon Sunday morning 12/06.Congrats and well done to Daire O Muiri who took Gold for under 14 50m Backstroke,Laoise Nerney silver for under 10 Freestyle,Alaidh Ni Muiri Bronze for under 10 Freestyle and Daragh Nerney Bronze for 50m under 14 freestyle .Well done and best of luck to Daire O’Muiri who goes on to take part in the National Finals in August. Best of luck to all the children taking part in the County Athletics Finals which takes place next weekend in Ballyleague 18/19th of June.
Congrats David: Well done to David Keenan and the Rossies who advanced to the Connacht final by comprehensively beating Leitrim at Pairc Sean in Carrick on Shannon on Sunday last. We now look forward to the Connacht Final in Hyde Park where we meet either Galway or Mayo.
Gold Medal: Well done to Padraig Halpin, Ballytouhy, Tarmonbarry who landed the Silver Medal at the National Community Games in Athlone recently in the Recitation section. What a wonderful achievement. It is also a great boost for the local Community Games organization. We want to congratulate you Padraig, the Community of Tarmonbarry/Scramogue are very proud of your achievement.
First Communion: We congratulate all who made their First Communion at the Sacred Heart Church, Whitehall on Sunday last. We also send our good wishes to those who made their First Communion in Kilglass Church on Sunday last,and not forgetting those who received the Sacrament in St.Anne’s Churches in Scramogue and Slatta recently.We hope you all had a most enjoyable occasion and wish you all the best for the future.
Tidy Towns: We congratulate all involved in keeping the village area tidy and neat for the Tidy Towns Competition. The village and the environs are looking well, so make sure no litter is dropped or left hanging around the village.
Boil water notice: The boil water notice which was in place for the North East Water Supply Scheme which includes the Tarmonbarry/Scramogue area has been removed, so the water is fit for use again.
Sympathy: We extend sympathy to Gerry McLoughlin, Moher, Scramogue on the recent death of his Aunt Elizabeth McLoughlin, Moher, and Laurel Lodge Nursing Home, Longford. Elizabeth was a well known primary school teacher in the region for many years.
