Killoe June 17

Community Games: Killoe Community Games annual social night and fundraiser took place on Saturday night last the 11th of June in Begley’s pub, Ennybegs. We had a great turnout and it’s fair to say that an enjoyable night was had by all. Many thanks to everyone who donated so generously on the night and for your ongoing support for killoe community games. Thanks also to those who couldn’t make it on the night and gave private donations. They are very much appreciated and will be put to good use for the young people of the parish. Congratulations to mark hughes and ann bracken harte who were presented with achievement awards on the night for their contribution and commitment to community games and to Mary Morrissey who was presented with clubperson of the year award - Many thanks to the begley family for generously providing refreshments and music and to everyone who donated spot prizes. Last, but by no means least, thanks to connie reilly for belting out great songs and giving a great night’s entertainment. Well done to our boys u12 outdoor soccer team who represented Co. Longford in the first round of Leinster when they played against Summerhill, Co. Meath. This game took place on the friday last, the 10th of June on the shane brennan memorial pitch in abbeycartron. Both teams gave great performances and it was a close game throughout. At full time it was meath who came out the winners, with a final scoreline of 5-4. We wish Summerhill good luck in their next Leinster round. Well done to our Killoe lads for a great game and many thanks to trainer/managers Tom McManus and Ann Bracken. Thanks to tom cunningham and the committee at abbeycartron for the use of the pitch and to John Kirwan who refereed. Good luck to our u11 and u14 tag rugby teams who play in their leinster rounds against Meath on Friday next, the 17th of June.
