The Granard Branch of St. Christopher!s wishes to thank everybody who supported the recent raffle for the One Direction tickets and the function at John V’s where the raffle was drawn. The lucky winner was Catherine McGerr. Altogether we raised a total of €1,505. A big thank you to everybody who bought raffle tickets and to all who donated prizes. Also a thank you to Sean Donohoe and staff for hosting the event, to Super Valu for allowing us to sell tickets on the premises, and to Seamus Farrell for supplying the music on the night. Your kind generosity is, as always, much appreciated.


We extend sincere sympathy to the Mulligan family, Cloonagh on the death of their mother, Mrs Mollie Mulligan which occurred last week. The late Mollie was sister of the late Una Finnegan, Granard and aunt of John Finnegan, Leitrim Coolarty. May she rest in peace.

New baby

Congratulations to Louise and Seamus McNerney, Clonfin on the birth of their second baby, a boy on Sunday last September 20th. This young man is to be named Mel and he is a welcome brother for Fergal and grandson for James and Bridie McNerney and for Michael and Marion Farrell, Bornacoola.

Top Hairstylists

Congratulations to Ciara Brady, Aughakilmore who has been successful in reaching the UK and Ireland final of the hairdressing industry’s most prestigious competition,The Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award 2015. Ciara is daughter of Finbar and Deirdre Brady and she is taking part in the young talent competition and she is one of Ireland’s twelve entries which makes her one of the country’s most sought after and in demand professional hair stylists. This competition attracted over nine hundred entries and if successful Ciara,who is working in Yourells Hair Salon in Eyre Street in Galway, will benefit from a dedicated mentoring which will then see her taking part in the International Trend Vision in Berlin in November. We wish Ciara every success and have no doubt that we will be reading and hearing a lot more of her success’.


Congratulations and best wishes for a long and happy life together to Martin Kearney son of Owen and Marie,Toneywarden and Cristina Martin-Fernandez who were married in Asturias, Spain on September 12th last. Also congrats to Colette Gallagher daughter of Joan and the late Kevin,Rathbracken,and Kyle Patrick Gaffney who were married in St. Barnaba’s Church, Bronx, New York on September 18th last.

Month’s Mind

The months mind Mass for the late Paddy Higgins, Ballymore will be celebrated on Sunday morning October 4th next in St. Mary’s Church in Granard at 9am. May he rest in peace.


Ballinalee/Killoe/Newtownforbes friends of Motor Neurone Disease committee would like to thank all who supported all who supported and helped with our 2015 fundraising events. It was much appreciated.

Ballymore Ladies

Ballymore ladies Football club would like to thank most sincerely everyone who supported their recent Beach Party fundraiser event and all who helped make it a huge success. A big thank you to Johnny, Molly, Paul and all at Creegan’s Bar, Bunlahy who went above and beyond to ensure the day was a success, your help and generosity was very much appreciated by our club.
