First Friday

Friday, 2 October is the First Friday. The sick and housebound will be attended as usual. First Friday Confessions takes place in Abbeylara Church at 7.00pm followed by First Friday Mass at 7.30pm.

Fatima First Saturday

Mass will take place on Saturday 3 October in Carra at 11.00am with Confessions.

Refugee Crisis

A meeting of Abbeylara Parish Pastoral Council was held on Tuesday, 22 September members of the Council had questions and possible problems but very few answers. We decided until the Government organize the Refugee situation for Ireland, there is little we as a parish can do, except to pray for the Refugees and care for each other, especially people in need.

Up For The Match

“Up for the Match” event takes place on Saturday, 3 October 2015 in Crawford’s at 9.30pm sharp. A good night’s entertainment will be provided. Your support will be greatly appreciated. Merchandise in the Club colours is available from Club Executive members or at Farrell’s shop. Supporters who have jackets etc on order will be notified in the usual way when they become available.

Table Quiz

In preparation for the Minor County Final on 11 October, Northern Gaels GFC is holding a table quiz next Friday night 2 October in Keogh’s Mullinalaghta at 9.00pm. All Proceeds in aid of Northern Gaels Minor Team. €40 for a Table of 4. There will be a Raffle and spot prizes on the night. Your support would be very much appreciated.

Abbeylara N.S. Fundraiser

The Parents Association are holding a Fundraiser. There are Hampers for raffle in Granard Credit Union and Macken’s Filling Station, Granard. Tickets cost €2 per strip or 3 for €5. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

St. Christopher’s Services

The Granard Branch wishes to thank everybody who supported the recent raffle for the One Direction tickets and the function at John V’s where the raffle was drawn. The lucky winner was Catherine McGerr. Altogether we raised a total of €1,505. A big thank you to everybody who bought raffle tickets and to all who donated prizes. Also a thank you to Sean Donohue and staff for hosting the event, to Supervalu for allowing us to sell tickets on the premises and to Seamus Farrell for supplying the music on the night.

St. Bernard’s N.S. Abbeylara are holding a clothes collection of Unwanted/Used Men’s, Women’s and Children’s Clothing, Shoes, Belts, Handbags, Ties, Linens, Household Textiles, Stuffed toys etc. (Mobile Phones placed in a separate bag)  on Tuesday, 6 October. Your support would be appreciated.

Takes place every Wednesday night at 8.45pm in the Community Centre Granard. Proceeds go towards St. Mary’s Granard and Abbeylara GAA Clubs. Jackpot now stands at €20,000 in 42 numbers; there is a second Jackpot of €2,700 in 46 numbers, come along early to avoid the rush. Clothing Collection

Please support the used clothing collection to aid Fr. Nicholas Maanzo and his parish of St. Patrick’s Kitui, Kenya. The collection takes place on Thursday, 1 October at St. Bernard’s and St. Mary’s Church car parks between 9.00am and 12 noon.

CU Factor

Thanks to all who participated in this years CU Factor. Winners are as follows: 1st Se Chairde and 2nd Cian Murray. These two acts will go through to represent Granard Credit Union in the Regional Final that will be held on Saturday, 24 October 2015. Best of luck.

Arthritis Ireland

Arthritis Ireland Longford Branch is holding a Public Meeting on Tuesday 6 October at 7.30pm to 10.00pm in the Longford Arms Hotel. Guest speaker on the night is Prof. Gerry Wilson. Chair of Rheumatology, Discussion on Life changing research in Rheumatology for a Cure; Also Miranda Moran Chartered Physiotherapist; Presentation on Osteoarthritis, Pre and Post operative advice on joint replacement. Refreshments will be served on the night and all is welcome. No entrance fee.
