Clonfin Commemoration committee are holding a 5km walk/run on Sunday August 2nd next starting at McElvaney’s of Coolarty at 6pm. Registration will be from 5pm and when the walk is complete there will be a BBQ in McElvaney’s followed by an evening of Irish music song and dance. Registration is ten euro per adult and five euro for children and all proceeds will go towards the Clonfin project which is ongoing at the present time. The committee will greatly appreciate your support.

A choir is required at Mass on Sunday, August 22nd, so all members who will be available are asked to attend a rehersal on Monday evening next, July 27th at 8pm.
The Senior Citizen’s annual outing is being arranged for Thursday, 23rd July. The proposed venue is Bray. The cost is €30, which includes bus, morning coffee, lunch tea and gratitudes. A list will be in the post office for names of those who wish to travel.

Congratulations to Shauna Heaney in the piano accordion U-12 and Patrick Collum, Rivercresent in the U-16 tin-whistle, who both won first place at the recent Leinster Fleadh Ceol finals. We wish them both well in the All-Ireland finals in Sligo next month.
Congratulations to Anita McNerney, daughter of Pat and Mary, Toney Warden Granard and Padraic Brady, son of Pat and the late Mary, Soran, Ballinalee who were recently married in Corpus Christi Church, Mount Temple. The celebrant was Fr. Simon Cadam PP Granard. Maid of honour was Donna Sheridan and best man was Sean Brady. The reception took place in the Wineport in Glasson. We wish them all the health and happiness in the future.

Community Employment Scheme
The community employment scheme are now taking names for places on the CE scheme in Ballinalee, Killoe and Newtownforbes that are coming on stream later this year. You may qualify for the CE scheme if you are over 25 years old and are receiving payment for the Dept of Social Protection for at least one year. You may also qualify if you have completed a TUS placement. CES provide long term unemployed with training and work experience through part-time and temporary placements in jobs based within the local communities.
